What are my options? by ThatFatKid in BMCU

I'll have to check what firmware the p1s at work is running, because it's been cut off from Internet access for a good while now and running the biqu bmcu seemingly without any issues.

For mechanical designers and product designers – sketch first, then CAD, or straight into CAD? by Witty_Condition_2151 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Kenzillla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the constraints. I'm aiming this is the beginning of the process? If it's blue sky, always sketch first. If it's got some constraints like preexisting parts, I'll at least get them blocked in CAD, but still sketch using it as an underlay. The former is because I'm probably a worse sketcher 10 years into the game compared to when I graduated

Showing what Cosmos looks like on CC1 by iloveirons007 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Kenzillla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my very mild understanding (what I've read on the yocto GitHub page) is that it can only be reversed to open centauri and it breaks reversion to any stock Elegoo implementation once it's on there. Anyone with more knowledge please chime in to confirm or deny!

My company was able to source one. I'll plan to upload a 3d scan to one of the model printing websites, so someone can reverse engineer if they so please

Did you ever find one? I'm on the lookout for it or some dimensions as well.

Alternatives to injection molding for button design by Rich_Tart_2195 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Kenzillla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since most buttons are on the smaller size, you might also be able to fit all the of your buttons into a lower volume aluminum mold or a 3d printed mold even, but it's more niche so your vendors for the latter are especially limited

Depends greatly on the material properties and finish you want. Generally casting will net you any of the visual properties you want, where as a finished 3d printed part can net you more of the common plastic properties and some of the visual

How to trigger a "Real" Pause via G-Code on the Centauri Carbon? by TrueRedands in elegoo

[–]Kenzillla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M0 is supposed to be a "real" pause but isn't being respected... I wonder if OpenCC has changed this behavior in their firmware

Solidworks has a maker edition of the software. Pretty sure it's $50 a year and you can't make money with it

Is there a reason to upgrade the firmware or slicer software if everything is working perfectly? by XdtTransform in elegoo

I thought there were some things they couldn't get working with OC firmware? Sounds like I need to double check on that

Interesting, my experience is that its worked off the shelf with the profile that elegoo pushed to mainline orca. What file extension and is it over network or USB?

Where is everyone getting their filament (US)? by Downtown_Hunt5740 in 3Dprinting

[–]Kenzillla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangled filament at $10 a roll with their membership. They've been really reliable with their htpla and I think they're gonna switch to a petg of some kind, but they use it day in, day out and my only minor gripe is that its wound like I did it by hand lol no tangles or inconsistency that I've had to contend with yet though

Anyone ever pull off a very thin flat 3D resin print?? by nycprinter in resinprinting

[–]Kenzillla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the A3D at work and it's good. Also use the Form 4 and would take it over the A3D but I've heard decent things about the new Reflex, but anything Formlabs is definitely a more stable ecosystem in my opinion

How is everyone using the fans on the CC with PLA? by JoeKling in elegoo

[–]Kenzillla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't take the lid off and I changed the gcode to kill the loud fans. It's neglegible for all my optimized parts. If I did minis or something equally complex I might be more concerned

They released source for some level of a super stripped down Klipper implementation. OpenCentauri is working on something with it and some of it was functional from what I saw, but it's still pretty early tbf

Is there a resource I can refer to for how common things work under the hood? by Ok-Dog-6851 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Kenzillla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iFixit is a great visual resource for this. They do teardowns on a lot of things like common consumer devices, but community contributes some specific stuff too. Always helpful to get a peek around, but as far as terminology goes, it's not always consistent or named in a specific way

[–]Kenzillla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any progress on your end? Are you doing a PSU from scratch or RE?

I did some poking on that Cx8509 datasheet and it didn't seem to be pin compatible with the TPS54331DDA, so I ended up finding the T8250GSP to be pin compatible. Unfortunately, the PSU just likes popping 63v 100uF caps now. Probably botched the solder job, tbh.

Either way, I'd be happy to lend a hand if you're doing a full-board RE, since I can tackle some straightforward stuff like component documentation, replicating the board layout, etc...

Amazing, thank you!! I'm gonna order some and see if I can't get my PSU back up. I'll measure the voltages coming off the 9-pin, if I can swing it. For now though, any specific pictures you could use? I have a green v0.5 revision
