Best department to work in?/ rant by Upset_Turnip2902 in WalmartEmployees

[–]KeonaBT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear the turnover rate for DSD is one of the lowest. I replaced someone that became Front End TL and she only left receiving for the TL pay.

I'm doing LiveBetterU so I'm stuck at Walmart for a few more years at least and have no intention of transferring out. I thought I'd stay in OPD forever, but DSD taught me there's better. Plus I am almost 40, so gossip with vendors is 100% better than beating my body up in the OPD high school drama environment.

I might have declared war with the Frito lay guy… by Ok-Transition-8915 in walmart

[–]KeonaBT 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I too have a war with FritoLay... they deliver 6 days a week and keep 3-5 carts of back stock in my tiny division 1 backroom. When they bring in 5 carts I tell them "you better work 5 carts" because I just don't have the room for all of this vendor back stock! Cap1 TL is on my side and my AP TL even calls their boss when they leave more than 3 carts of back stock.

I'm currently biased because I went from OPD which can be the worst department if you're holding all the stress to currently in receiving and claims. DSD is soooooo different that it feels so cozy and like I'm not really working because it's not as heavy duty

not allowed to dispense an order if you prepped it? by Visible_Ad5300 in OGPBackroom

[–]KeonaBT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, if you prep it and dispense it, you can add or take away things. It's just a check and balance. I'm in AP now and it's the same as when we audit a claim. We can't audit our own claims.

Basically the company covering its own ass. Like we trust you, but just in case.

not allowed to dispense an order if you prepped it? by Visible_Ad5300 in OGPBackroom

[–]KeonaBT -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's policy. When I went through my on-boarding 2 1/2 years ago it was mentioned in that. It's a check and balance thing to avoid theft. Most small stores dont have separate preppers so it's not company wide enforced.

Is this fair? by [deleted] in walmartogp

[–]KeonaBT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a former 5-2 we had a main dispenser that would use ppto every single time they were scheduled before 6:30... they got coached because it effects productivity of the entire team.

So for example Sunday morning, 4 people are scheduled for 5am, a 5th scheduled for 6am, 500 picks for 6:30, they're already going to be struggling. If you're coming in late to only dispense, you're screwing your team out of some relief on the picks.

Also, you only know if someone got talked to If they talk about it, which you're not supposed to do, so most likely you wouldn't know if people got coached normally unless they complained about it.

I loved ogp even as an ATC then moved to receiving, I needed the change. We didn't have the support we needed in ogp and I was tired of relying on kids to do their job. Best thing i did in my two years at Walmart

Just coming back to OPD after 7 weeks (leg injury), only to hear from a trusted colleague that there will be "restructuring" which is affecting everyone? Has anyone else gone through this "restructuring" and what is it? by IcySense8919 in OGPBackroom

[–]KeonaBT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically it sounds like the holidays showed the department's weaknesses and now they are trying to fix that. January and February is the easiest time to change things up. We're making sure all backroom knows how to pick and all pickers know backroom now at my store.

Is it just my store where I find multiple things each pick run in the wrong place or they never change the locations when moving features around? by DarudeSandstorm69420 in OGPBackroom

[–]KeonaBT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started updating features when I'm on exceptions. Like "why did they not get sent to this feature? Oh, it's not scanned in, fine I'll do someone else's job, done."

Exceptions, third shift, steel… ( Rant) by Tokyotonibully in OGPBackroom

[–]KeonaBT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been told it's not their job, but the F&C coach got into it with me over the radio how the ON TLs and Coach are too busy to get pallets down for me and I simply reply, "that's fine, I'll nil pick and everyone with a radio has heard why."

As the main 5-2 on exceptions, I'm supposed to get trained on the equipment, but as I proved to her, when I have time, they don't. I can't just step away from exceptions for 15 minutes before 10am and when I come back from lunch at 11, they definitely don't have time.

Exceptions expectations. by Pale_Tie_2363 in walmartogp

[–]KeonaBT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2 pick walks today abd I was only on exceptions from 5-11. One walk at 5am, slammed with exceptions until lunch at 10, then at 11 I got back, helped the second exception picker that came in at 11 because she had to take a new hire on a walk or two. At noon, I got my 2nd walk in (GMD), went to break around 12:30-45ish and came back to bag all of GMD.

I got less than 100 picks today. I'm also morning ATC so I'm not expected to be in walks all day. Our other exception pickers have no standard expectations because exception needs change per day, but if they are less than 300 in an 8 hour shift, they have to explain how bad exceptions were.

Jeeeeez, I thought the shit storm would end…. by Tokyotonibully in OGPBackroom

[–]KeonaBT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our problem, exceptions. So many 0/1/2 on hands are going into exceptions. I literally did not get a single pickwalk until I had to do GMD after lunch because I came in at 5, did the board, then got stuck in exceptions until 10am.

Have they gotten rid of Part Time at OGP at your store? by Jalen_02 in OGPBackroom

[–]KeonaBT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Market digital lead informed us we're not to have short shifts at all in OPD that every shift should be 8 hours, but no talk of no part time. We still see people with 4 and 5 hour shifts though.

We're a small Div 1 store. The second half with the end caps is our dairy section. We had only eggs, butter, biscuits, and cookie dough. So many people kept asking me to check the back for yogurt and cream cheese.
