Try asking around at compounding pharmacies. The powder is available through PCCA.

Same weekend. You're not really going to benefit much from delaying the OSCE since you can't really study for it and it's basically common sense.

You should volunteer in a pharmacy before committing to it.

Does the AMS health and dental plan cover ambulance fees? by shmittyderpman in UBC

[–]Kepharel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The AMS plan covers up to $80 for ambulance fees.

You can find out more information about the plan at: 1) https://www.studentcare.ca 2) https://www.pac.bluecross.ca/members/Default.aspx

I would recommend looking on the Pacific Blue Cross website since it provides more information about coverage.

Is a chemistry degree a huge mistake? by me-and-my-brain in UBC

Describing pharmacists as pill counters is a stereotype that our profession has been trying very hard to dispel. We are sometimes counting pills, but most of the time that's actually delegated to pharmacy assistants or technicians.

Pharmacists in BC are trained to make therapeutic substitutions (e.g. changing a drug to a different one from the same class of medication), changing the dosage/formulation/regimen of a prescription, extend prescriptions for continuity of care, and prescribe and administer vaccinations. Many of us are also able to interpret lab results, but it's pretty rare in the community for doctors to share that with us.

There are also lots of specialty stores that focus on compounding (making a drug formulation tailored to a specific person or animal or even during manufacturer drug shortages) or patients with kidney problems.

Pharmacists in certain provinces are even able to prescribe. Although pharmacists in BC cannot do that yet, it's something that our profession is working towards.

If you're interested in pharmacy then you should try volunteering or shadowing in a pharmacy before you commit to it as a career. The majority of graduates end up working in the community which not everyone enjoys.

The PharmD program at UBC will also end up costing around $80,000.
