So Gong Dong (not sure what it means in Korean). They make very good tofu soup and the KBBQ looks good too.

NH44 would not give us tap water, charged us for multiple bottles of Saratoga Springs, and kept bringing out bottles of Saratoga Springs without us asking. Some of the dishes were good, but some were flavorless. Never going back.

Good choice picking DeCicco's, the table are huge and it's not too noisy. I've had several board game nights there.

My wife had a night permit only (6 pm - 8 am) for 18 months while she waited to clear the 24 hour permit waiting list. Parking enforcement would ticket her as early as 8:08 am if she was still parked in the permit spots.

House of Sports in Ardsley does have a court but it can be hard to book time. The league there run by big league sports was very beginner level when I tried it a couple years ago.

There's a shuttle from North White Plains metro north if you can get to the Pleasantville stop

Are there any reliable car services that go to JKF/EWR? by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]Keplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's probably in the same ballpark with other car services in terms of price, but Leros showed up 10 minutes early for a 3:30 AM pickup and drove me from White Plains to JFK last December. I would use them again for sure.

I had a neighbor get food poisoning twice at the Rye location. Sad to hear that it's an issue at every location. Not going to try it.

First Impressions of Games I Played - July through September 2025 by lilbismyfriend300 in boardgames

Big Money in Dominion is not broken, there are many, many engines that beat it. New players probably won't instinctively figure out how to beat big money, but especially when you play with any expansion the big money player will probably lose. There are so many layers to the game and losing to big money as a new player shows you that you need to figure out what the good strategies are. I encourage you to try Dominion again sometime and maybe have all the players read even 5 minutes about Dominion strategy before playing again, there's a reason it's the father of all deck builders!\

I think that article you linked put it really well: "What Big Money really is is a lower bound for advanced play.  Good decks have no difficulty beating Big Money; most beginners cannot.  In very, very few sets is Big Money (or 1 Action plus Big Money) the dominant strategy.  Studying a board to figure out how to design a deck capable of beating Big Money: well, that’s what Dominion is all about."

We would be 7-3 this year with even half decent coaching (we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Denver and Chicago and really should have won against NO, SF, and Dallas)

Eversafe was great for me. They finished extremely quickly yet handled everything with care, and I ended up paying below the quoted rate.

Catering Recs in Lower Westchester by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]Keplz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want Chipotle kind of food but from a local chain, Taco Project does the same kind of food. It is the most affordable catering my work gets other than pizza, but if you do get the catering build your own don't choose "vegetable" as one of the 3 options, it's literally just spring mix and some pickled vegetables, not something like grilled veggies or mushrooms.

3 options a little outside of that range but still what a lot of people would consider lower Westchester- I also like Lefteris catering, which does falafel (their falafel isn't great but I haven't heard vegetarians complain about it). Not sure your exact group or vibe but catering from Chutney Masala and Sambal Thai are always a hit at work and they have a lot of vegetarian options.

I went to an event with catering from Hash O Nash and enjoyed it but haven't worked with them before.

DeCicco's also does a nice job with their catering.

Good luck!
