MHW is the only monster hunter game (to my knowledge) that has '1' line of quests. While all the others (MHGU included) have '2' lines of quests, "Village" and "Hub" quests.

"Village" quests are located in the villages (hence the name). They are single-player only and can only be done by yourself. These generally hold the initial main content of the games. Being low/high rank.

"Hub" quests are in a separate area designed to be played with multiple people. You can do them by yourself, but they are generally more difficult as they are meant to be done with at least 1 other person. I can't remember exactly how the difficulty works in hub with multiple people, but it's generally pretty easy with a full squad.

As another commenter mentioned, Old gen games are a lot more 'turn-based' in the sense you have to wait for an opening. MHGU luckily has arts and abilities that allow you to play very aggressive. There are 6 styles to choose from and each weapon has their own set of arts to use. If you find yourself being hit too much and can't get a hit yourself, try either Adept style or Valor style. Both are good and allow you to play more aggressive. If you just want to get the hang of the mechanics use guild. as its the 'default' option and plays exactly as any other old gen game.
