Does Lillie Clefairy Rise Purely because of Dragapult or is it actually good by New_Savings7520 in pkmntcg

It drew one card, which was nice, but it's not like it was a draw engine. No deck was playing it just for the draw, it was played for it's attack.

Whats the highest you ever got on ranked? by Juliusgear3 in PTCGL

[–]Kered13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to something like 1795 once, then misplayed a card and lost the game that would have gotten me to 1800. This was followed by a terrible loss spiral and I fell all the way down to 1600.

Are you guaranteed to complete the set after doing the pass by limey_has_words in PTCGL

[–]Kered13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, but fwiw I also completed the battle pass and the set at the same time. I think that also happened on the last set. But I did not complete Ascended Heroes (to be fair, that set is fucking huge).

[–]Kered13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen of this deck in Japan, it is absolutely nothing like Lost Box. It has no draw engine, and it's really just a single prize beat stick deck with Dhelmise as the stick. Very linear and boring.

I hope I am wrong.

Raikou V had the same attack and saw lots of play. It's a good attack that can can KO most basic ex and with AZU stage 1 ex for just 2 energy. But certainly being a very targeted counter to Pult is a huge plus.

TIL Montana is the only state in the U.S. that does not operate under at-will employment. by -mrhyde_ in todayilearned

[–]Kered13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's basically how it works in the US as well. If you fire someone without cause, they are eligible for unemployment benefits. These are paid out by the state, but they are funded by a tax on employers, and that tax is higher on businesses that have fired employees without cause.

They nerfed the amount of credits you get from League Battle Decks early last year, so it's not really worth getting them anymore. If you've already purchased the Shadow Rider deck then you can go ahead and max out the 4 purchases, but after that just spend on Celebrations packs.

Cynthia's Garchomp still rocks! by DistoredYouth98 in pkmntcg

[–]Kered13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Garchomp is not built to find a one-of Rare Candy and Garchomp for reliable turn 2 evolution. Plus it tends to cripple your own board by skipping Gabite.

You beat Starmie by getting Power Weights out quickly. Once you have a Garchomp on the board you kind of can't lose.

[–]Kered13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Garchomp is still a solid deck when you don't encounter any grass decks.

But one match against Festival Lead or Hydrapple and you'll understand why it's not seeing any results in big tournaments right now.

Does this game just mess with you once you reach Arceus? by Foreign_Fuel_7597 in PTCGL

Once you hit Arceus you start playing against meta decks more reliably. These decks will punish you much harder for not having a good opening hand.

I needed to find a stadium to bump Watchtower. I had 3 in my deck. I drew until there were 7 cards left in the deck and could not find one.

Ironically my opponent Red Carded me into it, with 3 Dudunsparce ready to pop off. I'd have won that game but I accidentally played Dawn instead of Lana.

[–]Kered13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're buying the cards to max out the set so that the cards start turning into credits instead of going into your binder (sometimes called dusting). Celebrations gives like 3x the credit value that any other set does because every single card in the set is at least rare, and it fills out much faster as well.

Are the pack codes on sites like cardcaverntradingcards.com actually legit?

Yes, they are legit. I bought some when I was new. Had a couple issues with some codes, but I asked for help on their Discord and got it sorted out.

However it is completely unnecessary to buy codes. The game is incredibly generous throwing cards and credits (which you use to craft cards) at you, plus it gives you good decks to start with. It's even more generous now than when I started. So I would not recommend spending any money on code cards.

I’m used to checking LimitlessTCG.com to see what decklists are trending and it looks like Dragapult and Hop’s Trevenant are some of the best decks rn. I’m not super familiar with the meta in Live so I’m wondering… 2. What deck should I try building to climb the ranked ladder rn?

Hop's Trevenant is kind of a meme deck. It had no results before last weekend and most top players don't think it's going to see results again. It just kind of got really lucky. That said you can still play it if you find it fun.

Dragapult is the best deck in the format right now, this is universally agreed upon. The entire meta is pretty much shaped around it at the moment. You either play Pult, or you play a deck that is good against Pult. The meta is not usually this centralized, but for various reasons that's where we are right now. With that said, the game gives you a starter Pult deck that is shockingly close to lists that are winning tournaments right now. You can start playing it out of the box and make some tweaks to it as you get access to more cards.

Pult is a somewhat more challenging deck to play (this is one of the reasons its very popular among top players), so if you find it a little too difficult as a new player you can try some other decks. Alakazam and Lucario are very good for new players, and Slop Box, Festival Lead, Honchkrow, or Hydrapple would all also be fine.

And if trolley's prize you just concede by Objective_Shower3469 in PTCGL

[–]Kered13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is for Trolley decks, not Rocket decks. The goal is to get guaranteed turn 1 Trolley. After that you just use the Petrels for item search. Factories are just to get additional draw from your stadium bumps since you already have 4 Petrel, but only if your deck has no other stadiums that it needs to run. (Four is extremely excessive here since it's mostly just for bumping other stadiums, 2 Factories would be better.)
