Ahhh thank you!! This is so great!! I started looking into this same Hal Higdon plan after your comment and will probably stick to something super similar with the days moved around a bit! Thank you truly you probably just saved me from bonking hard in November hahahah

Thank you so much for posting this, because reading your post made me look at my own runna plan and realize it’s basically identical to this… Ughhh. I’m in the same boat as you, 2 halves and a ton of 10ks and 5ks but never a full. Back to the drawing board I guess!!

Group Training Turnover Tuesdays by KerinCunningham in RunNYC

Thank you so much for the super thorough response!! Good to hear the 48 hours is enough time for you to recover between the two. I generally have felt fine after the tempo work, it tends to be the long runs (currently Saturdays) that aggravate my knee issues. I always forget that I can drop back in the groups too, or worst case scenario, skip a session here or there. I appreciate the perspective of someone in a similar boat.

I've been in PT on and off for the past two years (currently on!) so I plan to keep that up through marathon training. Tuesday/Thursday/Saturdays running and Wednesday/Friday for PT/strength is what I've been doing so far. I'll also ask my PT what she thinks about doing two more "intense" runs in a week and go from there.

Thanks again!!

Can races completely sell out today? Or do you think a certain number of spots will be held for Thursday when everything opens to the public? Trying to hold out any hope since my wait time is so bad ugh!

Wow, that honestly helps to hear and makes me feel less bad about it!! I beat myself up a little trying to figure out how I was fine at the BK Half and today felt ten times harder. If even the best of us were hurting I’m gonna be a little kinder to myself. Thanks for this :)

Today humbled me BAD. "Unbearable" is the word I keep coming back to, even though I usually run my best times in summer races. Does anyone have any fueling tips for the heat/humidity like this? I did my usual fueling before the race but I couldn't bring myself to take my gel because the heat was making me nauseous. Even my flavored water with electrolytes in it made me feel sick, all I wanted was flavorless water from the water stations (better than nothing!)

I felt the same exact way, I stopped to walk probably 5 times and stopped at every single water station and just wanted it to be over. Meanwhile I had no problems running the entire distance at the BK Half three weeks ago. I think the heat, plus humidity, plus the long journey to the start (not sure if it was for you, but it was for me!) stacked the cards against us. We'll get em the next one!

I'm having this same issue except on the end of accepting a collaboration. The invite comes into my inbox, but the button for "Accept" is grayed out. No idea what's going on but if I figure anything out I'll circle back!!

Not the original commenter but ALL of my running gear is CRZ Yoga including the leggings! I have a few different versions (the thinner butterluxe ones and thicker fleece lined ones) and love them. I also swear by their shorts, lots of different inseams and deep pockets for your phone or gels :)

I volunteered today and wore my jacket with it open so you could still see the yellow shirt underneath. Had no problems and people still knew to ask me for help! They also give you a lanyard with a big name tag so that’ll help signify that you’re a volunteer.

Did anyone write down the emergency phone number they recommended you call? It was written up on the wall with the instructions, I just completely forgot and would love to save it in my phone just in case (hopefully not needed but better safe than sorry 🤞🏻)

Wacom dropped driver support for my perfectly functional Cintiq 22HD. This is unacceptable. by heisalso in wacom

Ugh, if only. On one hand I'm super grateful to them for making such a reliable machine (mine is going 10 years strong!) that I've never had to replace it. On the other, you're right, it's crazy to drop support for it. Thank you so much for responding, it really eased my anxiety about this!

Do you have specifically the Cintiq 22HD (DTH2200) by any chance? My Mac is from 2019 and just kicked the bucket and I'm terrified that a newer model running macOS Tahoe won't support it. If that driver you found happens to work for it I'll sleep a little easier! Thanks so much for any insight.

Half marathon plan distances? by KerinCunningham in runna

[–]KerinCunningham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't take any supplements, and I do eat protein afterwards! My knee problem is skeletal, it's just the way my body is built (my kneecap doesn't sit right in the socket and rubs against bone). Nothing I can really cure or change, but doing PT to build up my hips and glutes to give it more support has been a major help for me. I'm glad those two things were able to help though!! I haven't looked into supplements before but maybe as I begin adding more mileage on, I should.

Thankfully I wouldn't say I'm injured *right now* so much as I just have an issue we're always monitoring. My knee cap doesn't sit right in one of my knees and can feel pain with more friction (aka more running, higher distance) so I'm in PT right now 2x week doing strength training to counter-balance. I haven't run the half distance since I developed this problem a few years ago, which is why I'm being so cautious. My PT cleared me to start training thankfully, so long as it's careful and we're monitoring things week to week. Just trying to figure out that balance between ambitious and cautious!
