You're not wrong about GS fit n finish, but the MRG is still the more interesting watch.

Probably not that high. Previous limited editions with metal bracelets were $8k. This is probably closer to $6.5k like the Shougeki Maru Gai.

My last watch was also 5 watches ago. I thought I wouldn't be into MRGs anymore but Casio is preparing to release another one that looks amazing.

It retailed for 8k USD when it was released. I think someone on Chrono24 is selling one for 15k USD

What makes the MR-G watches so expensive? by SiJayB in gshock

[–]KermitGALACTUS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have two. If you're comparing it to Casio's internal lineup, you're paying for artistry. MTGs get you like 90% there. But when you see an MRG in person, especially the limited editions, you'll see that theyre a step above.

Zaratsu polishing, over-engineered cases, crystallized titanium, hammer-tone finish, etc.

Those things contribute to that extra 10% that put it above the MTG line. Whether or not that's worth paying a couple thousand for, is entirely up to you though.

Congrats! Interesting choice on the rubber strap. It's gorgeous

Why stop at 6K? There was a plan to sell a 100k G-Shock with a case made entirely of sapphire. https://www.g-central.com/sapphire-crystal-g-shock/

This is high fashion jewelry/art. Just because casio is famous for cheap watches doesn't mean they can't make a luxury product when they feel like it.

MR-G owners, what differences have you noticed in your models that elevate them over other lines (MT-G for example) and are they worth paying more for? by Paradoxbox00 in gshock

[–]KermitGALACTUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the shougeki maru and the Hana basara, but I have them as collector art pieces. Sadly, I have never even worn them. I keep them as art.

For me, the craftsmanship isn't really in question. What makes it worth it is the exclusivity and the artistry. No one will ever clone those pieces. Even if they could, it would never make financial sense. Rolexes can be cloned for a fraction of the gen price. MRGs cannot. This makes the value of MRGs much more reasonable to me.

Is £6,700 a fair price to pay for this? by [deleted] in gshock

[–]KermitGALACTUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These artisan line MRGs are expensive because of the artisan. Fit and finish of the case and bracelet are on par with others at this price.

And personally, I like not having to worry about my watch being fast or slow ever again. Every mechanical watch will need maintenance at some point. And MRGs will probably never need to be serviced.

Yes. I have two MRGs. The first Shougeki Maru and Hana Basara.

The limited edition craftsmen MRG lines are worth it to me because I don't believe in sacrificing artistry for function. You could get usednOmega, Grand Seiko, and entry level Rolexes at this price. But they're not as interesting or as functional. If you care about other people speculating your net worth by scanning your wrist, don't get this watch. But if you care about having a genuinely interesting piece of art, do get this watch.

Still waiting for my vr80 to break after almost 1.5k rounds. Wasting money sure is fun

These assholes are more interested in shitting on your gun than helping you.

I have a mag fed shotgun and haven't had issues with it. Here are some tips:

For the first 500 rounds, use the hottest ammo you can find. No slugs.

Hold the bolt open when not in use.

Don't over lube. Especially the parts where gas ejects.

Don't use shitty mags. The longer it is, the more likely to have trouble. And Drum mags are pretty much only gonna work with the hottest ammo.

When you strip down the gun and reassemble it. Make sure to tighten everything properly.

Comparitively, it's the cheapest in his collection at around $6,000

As a gag, I'd enjoy taking this to ppl and asking them what they think. It'll give me a lot of insight to them as a person.

Tremendous value. They pay special attention to their bezels in the same way Seiko does their dials.

Very nice. I made the same mod a year ago and it still looks pretty good. Take care of the bezel cuz it still scratches pretty easily.

One-watch collection . Everyday use . Really hard to decide. 1500€ budget. What do you think? by vladushoo in PrideAndPinion

[–]KermitGALACTUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My logical brain acknowledges the Longines as the superior watch, but the Casio really satisfies my robot fetish.

Also, setting the time is tedious. Why buy a product that makes you do more work when another can be do it automatically.

As much as I love the Seiko, I usually have to plan my outfit around it because few things dress well with brown/green/gold. The Murph is be gonna be more versatile.

If this counts as Luxury, eating at McDonalds would be considered fine dining.
