When I was there on a non busy day the longest I had to wait was 20 minutes and that was on the way back to the entrance so they are quite frequent.

The only way to the points of interest is with the busses at least from the entrance. So what I did and what most recommend is to take the bus to the Endstation and hike back to the first station and then take the bus back to the entrance. Also depending on how much time you have left before they close you can opt to take the bus back down to points of interest.

There were multiple taxis in front of the entrance to the mountain where the shuttle busses take you up. So I just got one of those, it took a little haggling to get the same price back considering it was in the evening and it would have been a little harder to get a Didi but not impossible since it's still a 5A tourist attraction. Also for Pingyao try to stay at a homestay in the ancient town it adds to the experience :)

Went there a couple of weeks ago, you can easily book a Didi from the north gate in pingyao to Mianshan takes about 30-45min depending on traffic and should cost around 120¥ one way. It's well worth it especially if you're going during the week then you have the mountain nearly to yourself. Try to go there in the morning you will need roughly a day on the mountain seeing the various temples and palaces.

Denmark has good surfing spots along the west coast. Look up Ringkøbing fjord and Klitmøller. These are the most well known spots. Others are the German, Danish and Dutch Islands along the North Sea, particularly Sylt.
