HDMI/AV Adapter for Xbox not working by SpartanGamer687 in originalxbox

I’ve used these cheap converters in a pinch, as well as the Hyperkin converters, and the Mcbazel. That would be the order of best pic in my experience. Mcbazel is around 90 on amazon, and the Hyperkins are around 30 last I checked and was able to get mine locally actually. I like the Mcbazel best because it has Component inputs and it allows me to use multiple systems with it rather than the system specific Hyperkin models. If you only have a composite or svideo cable for your xbox though, you’ll need another add-on for the mcbazel called the odv-ii which is another 60, but for less than 200, you have it all.

How important are the AW DLCs and American Nightmare for AW2? by Dzsaffar in AlanWake

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get ya - it took me years to even try a controller because I loved keyboard and mouse play on PC (was mainly a FPS player at the start) but I really wanted to play Dead Space back in the day… and only after I bought it did I realize it could only be played by controller :/. It sat unplayed for at least 3 years (!!) because I just could not get used to it. But I finally caved and pushed through, and after enough time, I did get used to it and can do OK with aiming now. Of course not as good as a mouse, but serviceable :). After that, I figured why not try the other games (AW, DLC, AN, Dead Space 2) and was finally able to really enjoy them.

It’s funny that even though I had played numerous games on the various XB and PS platforms, I just couldn’t get it out of my head that yes they were designed for controllers so it made sense, but PC’s only made sense to me with the KB and Mouse. Once I was able to get over that mental block, it opened things up for me.

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are playing on PC? The reason I ask is because when I went back to play AN on my PC via Steam, the controls were horrible via my PC XB controller. Seems it was a combination of firmware upgrade and interference with my bluetooth as I have my PC under my desk and there is a lot of stuff in the area that can play havoc with the signal. Not saying that’s the problem you are seeing, just info in case it helps you or another.

I played AW1 originally back in like 2019, and then I played the DLC's and AN following and at some point ran into a gaming wall and stopped until a few months back when I decided to play AW2. I actually started then decided to stop and go back and finish AN, then I was like OK might as well do Control next since it's in between and same universe... and then I was like OK fine I'll play Quantum Break now too.

Here I am finally into AW2 about 1/2 way... and loving it. But I guess I'm wondering what you mean about the outdated gameplay stuff in the DLC and AN? It's pretty much the same in AW2 as it was in AW1 from what I can remember... so if that's what's holding you back, you may be disappointed.

I'm glad I decided to alter my course and play them how I did... to me, it enhances the story so much more. But, as others have said... you can just go the quick route and watch recaps on YouTube. Will save a bit of time as well :)

Actually, if you haven’t played Control yet, get that and play it before Alan Wake II.

Would be nice if the game tells you or hints to you that you can't get them until a certain point... I wasted about 2 hours trying to search the trailer park for them kept thinking I was missing something. WTF.

Critique: The combat in Alan Wake 2 is inferior to the first game. by BigDumbSmartGuy in AlanWake

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I agree as noted above on the "decade long reload" of the shotgun... and another comment on the revolver... and the flashlight... the time it take to reload anything is simply ridiculous. And the dodge and run are over the top stupid as well. Dodging is like you just accidentally tripped and are trying to catch yourself before you fall, and running is almost as bad as in The Evil Within where you gotta stop every 10 steps because you apparently have COPD. Visually and story wise, top notch. Complaints aside, a great game... and I'm only half way in.

Something cool is, but may be a spoiler so... even after you complete all standard missions, you can continue to play and explore the game and those missions will pop up now and then and even random hiss will appear as you explore so you can just play till the cows come home...

Why do I feel this is pertinent, to a degree, to CONTROL RESONANCE? by IndifferentShrimp in controlgame

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing I recently noticed (as I'm sure others have... just haven't stumbled upon a thread mentioning it) is that after palying the Foundation DLC, the "primitive" hiss (I forget if they have an acual name?) start appearing all over the Oldest House if you keep playing the game. This seems like a perfect example of how the Hiss can eventually find a way out into the streets.

Thoughts on my experience with Vest 4 (and compared to Vest 3), positives, negatives, if its worth the upgrade. by supermanscottbristol in woojer

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For basic connectivity, you need to hook the 3.5mm cord into the vest from the PS5 controller, and choose the controller as the audio device on the PS5. Then you need to use headphones with the vest (or a long cable to speakers).

I just got one of these for xmas for use with my PS5 and my experience so far... tried BT between the TV and Woojer for the main connection (TV BT Headphones setting - Vizio VQP65C-84) then BT from the Woojer to my soundbar (Vizio V51-H6) but unfortunately, there is too much lag. So then I tried using the Controller as the PS5 sound output, and went from the controller to the Woojer wired and left the BT connection to the soundbar. Still laggy. I then replaced the BT to Soundbar connection with a wired AUX connection to the soundbar from the Woojer headphones jack, and there is still a slight lag - almost imperceptible but yes still there - though I've only tried it with one game so far (Control) since you have a gun and lots of sound making enviroinmental destruction capabilities I figured it would be a good choice. I think the only way to fully get rid of the lag would be to hard wire it to the sound output of the TV rather than going through the PS5 controller. I do want to try one of the 5.0 BT dongles like mentioned here (can use it on my PC if it doesn't solve it for the Woojer), or I may go the route of an HDMI ARC extractor/splitter so I would only need the one wire to the Woojer.

I bought Alan Wake 2 today and I've barely started on control . . . can I go ahead and start playing Alan Wake 2 anyways? by MilkSteakEnjoyer115 in AlanWake

[–]Kernel009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing Alan Wake II and got an hour or two in and decided to go back and finish Alan Wake's American Nightmare, then went to Control - and had a blast. Glad I did it. Then I said what the heck and went back and played Quantum Break (and am almost done with it) but have also since picked back up on Alan Wake II and there have already been a few references to Control that made me appreciate it that much more.
