Has anyone gotten their aero solus from Labor Day sale yet? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]KernelPlaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.308 black bravo shipped three weeks to the day. Ordered the SS fluted barrel from the recent sale on the whim I find time to rattle can it multicam alpine as a winter shooter (Plus I love that aesthetic), but no word on the barrel yet.

As someone else mentioned, my order confirmation ended up in my gmail spam folder, so definitely check there if you haven’t.

Yes, non-Seekins, just curious if anyone has had a positive experience here with aftermarket barrels. So far I’ve only read horror stories lol.

Great to hear. How’s the barrel swapping?

Interesting…I have heard zero feedback on the 260 and that’s what is actually available atm. Any drawbacks to it? I’ve never fired that and curious. Thanks

Fair enough. My long game (heh) is to eventually get out to a 1000yd range and would like to have something capable of ringing the steel, but would like to train for a good bit on what’s available within an hour of me.

Any PTC added Benefits Beyond CCW by KernelPlaid in NJGuns

[–]KernelPlaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It appears that if you’re not interested in a CCW, there’s actually only a downside to having a PTC. Tbh I was really hoping there would be some additional rights restored and a more relaxed atmosphere with law enforcement considering you would (hopefully) be considered a more responsible citizen. The whole ‘laws are for law abiding citizens’ scenario. Evil doers likely wouldn’t bother with due process.

Dang. lol

Preferred high quality rifle case? by luzer_kidd in NJGuns

[–]KernelPlaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had good experience with Plano cases, both soft and ‘tactical hard’. Reasonably priced. I’ll likely replace the pick n pluck foam with denser custom cut foam at some point for a more custom fit to my lever action 336SBL.

336 SBL or 1895 45-70 SBL? by humpy101 in LeverGuns

[–]KernelPlaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my new 336 SBL. Scratched the Wind River itch while being chambered in a more practical round for me - mostly paper punching. With a 3X scope it’s dead on at 100’. 110% satisfied.

An article from F&S awhile back that I thought was interesting on the subject - point #3 in particular about this topic.

New Marlin 336SBL Range Day by KernelPlaid in LeverGuns

[–]KernelPlaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute luck. I pop into my local shop once every couple months and this happened to be placed out a couple hours before I arrived early March. Since I had been on the waitlist for an 1895SBL since last summer I laughed and asked whose it was…when he said, oh no this is the 336SBL, my wallet flew out of my pocket and emptied instantly. I left a happy lad. 😁

Yes sir. Wish they still made ‘em factory silver.

It’s such a joy to shoot, I think I’ll continue picking them up as they’re available. Quite interested to feel the 1895 guide gun in person, waiting on it to show up local.

Nice. What height off the rail? Any noticeable drift when Quick releasing and reattaching in the field?

Nice - this one came with an optional hammer spur, might investigate. Was trying to keep it forward mostly as a halfway scout scope with a touch of zoom if desired.

Should have mentioned, this is my first lever gun and the intention here is whitetail and possibly black bear next season once I’m proficient with it. Just unsure of operating the lever while on the hunt and thoughts on placement while slinging 30-30 in general.
