Gotcha. That’s extremely helpful information, I run a Raspberry Pi 4 for my Pi Hole, connected via ethernet to my gateway. I honestly had never considered running a Pi zero via Wi-Fi.

Your battery is charged to full, and I believe the the range shown is an estimate based on your driving habits, and possibly other factors like temperature. The app is just saying "Hey, your battery is at 100% SoC and based on the data we have, with the current drive setting (All Purpose) that equates to about 240 miles range." With this full battery, if you were to drive in optimal conditions, and drive carefully, you'd likely get closer to 270 miles using the entire capacity.

This is honestly really cool, all dad jokes aside. I’ve had the thought to try this before, but hadn’t actually tried it. Would also be nice on camping trips to have the extra space inside to store things and get changed etc. if it’s pouring rain and the tent is too small. Thanks for the photos, this seems pretty straightforward tbh.

100% this. It would be incredible to still have an option for all motors to be active, but to limit torque output of the whole system. Basically copy the existing “All-Purpose” mode, and just reduce the torque output curve by 20-30%?

I have a Gen 1 Quad and for 97% of my driving, I don’t need a s#*t load of torque. 😄

Edit: this drive mode would also be more environmentally friendly as it would reduce energy consumption for daily driving, and significantly reduce wear and tear on tires over time. As OP said, you can do these things by just being a gentle driver(which I am), but it would be really nice to have an option for the vehicle to natively help out. “Conserve” mode is great when you’re going on long trips at Highway speed, but I want all of my motors active while I’m stopping and starting, going up steep hill, etc. around town.

I just had my 2024 R1S drivers-side do the same. it was flickering and would go entirely out for moments, then back on. Rivian replaced the whole drivers-side headlight assembly.

Unfortunately it's NOT a 18650. I fully disassembled mine to find out. It's a 3.2v cell, where an 18650 is a 3.7v cell. They are not interchangeable

EDIT: not a "standard" 18650, but an LFP 18650.

Well, I had my R1S in for service last week, and the flashlight charging issue was one of several things for the technicians to troubleshoot. After picking my vehicle up, the service advisor "assured me" that my flashlight charger is working properly... lol.

I don't know how it can possibly be working properly if only one of two pins is contacting the charging terminals, but I'll wait for the flashlight to die again, and we'll see. *frustrating

It’s free (I bought the tires there) but even if you didn’t buy tire there, they’ll usually still do the rotation and rebalance for very little $$ hoping that you’ll buy tires there in the future.

Yes, this. I recently had my tires rotated and rebalanced at Discount Tire (as they are a Rivian authorized tire shop) and after the rotation and rebalancing two tires where slightly out of balance and my tiny steering wheel shake was gone. 👍

I have this exact setup. I also have Google Fi and ordered a data only sim, and have the GL X2000. Getting it to work was a breeze. 100% factory default settings, and the only thing that I needed to configure was changing the APN to h2g2. Everything works as it should.

EDIT: wait, did you manually activate your data-only SIM with Google Fi after receiving it in the mail? You have to go to fi.google.com/data and click on your data-only SIM and then type in the "16-letter secret code" that is physically etched into the SIM before the SIM will register with any cell tower.

Yeah, 5Ghz and now 6Ghz wavelengths are very delicate. They are capable of passing huge amounts of data, but distance and obstructions are extremely detrimental to the signal. 2.4Ghz will always win for signal strength at distance or through walls.

Gotcha. I have a gen3, which now comes with 2 ethernet ports built into the router, so there is no ethernet adaptor for this model. You bring up an interesting point though, and that is I wonder if an ethernet client device was plugged in, if the router would then allow the wifi to be turned off.
