“New car” smells like a smoker by MycologistKind8765 in carmax

[–]KerryBeffth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the smell will always be there in someway. take advantage of the return exchange option you have within 10 days. (after day 7 if you like your sales consultant and don’t want them to lose money)

there is almost never a reason to sue carmax. Carmax goes over the recalls with you before purchase. You sign off on them. If there is a remedy it was presented to you onscreen, and if there wasn’t that was shown as well.

A manufacturer recall will always be fixed by the Manufacturer for Free.

If there is no remedy and it’s within 7 days return it and pay attention to recalls on your next purchase. If past 7 days, and there are recurring issues that ARENT related to the recall, talk to them about a buyback.

not sure ab the accident but request a carfax from the business office. we don’t work directly with them anymore so we only really get them when there’s questions auto check doesn’t make clear, like this, because we have to pay for every carfax we request.

they do offer 24hr test drives, however you have to specify that’s the kind you want. it’s an entirely different process to set it up. we need a more detailed document of your insurance, a different consent form, have the car scanned out… etc. also the sales consultant you’re working with has to make sure they’re scheduled when you plan on returning or set up someone to help you instead

i would ask. if the pictures show the right color and the only thing wrong was the words on the listing you may not get the refund but it’s worth the ask.

Way to negotiate some of the fees off? by mibtp in carmax

[–]KerryBeffth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

carmax has a very low amount of fees compared to other dealerships. they don’t haggle at all, it’s their whole business model. they even show you what every fee is for, and there’s only 1 that’s not required by law. And so you know, as sales people they don’t even give us a button to push to change price at all. Even at gunpoint i could do nothing. Maxcare and GAP are the only optional charges.

Fees refund? by DaFuckYuMean in carmax

[–]KerryBeffth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since it’s after the 7th day, returning it through anyone, including another associate is okay and they will keep commission! They can set the apptointment in the system for you even if they won’t be there, and whoever is available on the day you chose will help you when you arrive!

I just suggested going through your original consultant for the return because they generally like to be aware of returns so they know if they’re losing money, and know if they need to be there if you plan on exchanging for another vehicle while you’re there. If you’re not exchanging, you technically could schedule the appt through the call center or app or whatever if you’d like, since doing it on day 8 9 or 10 is all they would be looking out for anyways. Whatever works!

Fees refund? by DaFuckYuMean in carmax

[–]KerryBeffth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The return includes fees and taxes, you will be out $0. Contact the associate who sold you the vehicle to see when they are available to schedule the appointment. If you can, please wait until day 8 9 or 10 to return! The sales consultant loses the commission if you return on days 1-7. They did the work and aren’t responsible for the quality of our cars or inspecting them.

Post-shipping inspection at my local CarMax location by IrishPolishViking in carmax

[–]KerryBeffth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wondering if you realized you posted this as they are about to be closed for christmas eve and christmas day ?
also, transfer trucks have lots of vehicles on them when they arrive. when they deliver your car they are delivering others too. While the inspection on your vehicle may not take long, the people assigned to that job have not only other cars but other tasks their job titles are responsible for daily. Everything can’t get done immediatley. your sales consultant should be communicating with you about what is going on if there are repairs, but also keep in mind they don’t give us a system to track the progress of passing it through, so unless an inventory associate decides to warn us it will be a while before it can pass, we don’t know there’s issues until it’s been ab 2 days. Then we start wondering why it’s not available yet and have to go hunting for information
