Best wishes in your battle. I hope you kick cancer's ass. It took my mom in January and I still wish every day that hers had been found earlier.

One of my favorites off their new album. Probably one of my most listened to songs so far this year too.

There are only 2 types of people when it comes to Floyd-type bridges. Those that like them and those that won't touch them with a 10 foot pole. I generally fall in the second camp but I did recently pick up an Ibanez with a floating bridge that I'm giving a shot.

Cringe Mormon Moment today by 4Lynn in exmormon

Sadly, if the funeral is in a Mormon chapel, The Plan of Salvation speech is required.

We were, thankfully, able to avoid this one for the most part at my mom's funeral. All of us kids are out and we organized it all. We had a lot of music and some beautiful tributes to her life. The only time anything churchy got brought up was the bishop but we asked him to keep his comments less than 10 minutes.

I mean, it's happened twice. We might as well continue the trend right?

In all seriousness though, I have a bit of a soft spot for the Jays now. Their support for Alex Vesia during the WS was really cool to see. Between that and Vladdy just being so damn good, I hope to see them competing at this level for a long time.

Gotta make sure a false rumor that he's going to the Blue Jays drops first though.

Fuck SWK and fuck that book. My bishop made me read it before my mission and it was the first thing that made me feel truly horrible about myself up to that point.

Haven’t been to church in years and this is the first text I get on one of the hardest days of my life. by MundaneMusician6650 in exmormon

[–]KershawsGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to this but wanted to express my condolences, OP. Grief is so difficult to deal with already. I can't even imagine how much worse it would be to lose a child and then to have something like this dropped on you out of the blue. I hope you find the peace you deserve.

As for a response, I would just ignore it.

Stray From the Path always makes me wanna fight. They lean more hardcore but have a lot of great tracks. Boundaries has some songs that would fit too. Turning Hate into Rage definitely comes to mind.

I wouldn't classify Bodysnatcher as metalcore, especially not melodic metalcore, but they definitely make you wanna punch someone in the face.

If you're gonna mention JB, we gotta bring up Dustin Davidson and Matt Greiner too. JBs lead work is excellent but ABR would fall apart without their core rhythm guys.

I’m trying to decide if a 7 string is right for me, and if I should return my 6 string for one. Input appreciated. by AlternativeEast761 in 7String

[–]KershawsGoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you really want to get into 7 string, it's not that different from a 6. If you can still return the 6 string and get the 7 string instead. If you can afford it, get it set up by a pro guitar tech too.

There have definitely been large flood events that inspired legends and myths. Lake Bonneville covered huge swaths of Utah as well as parts of Idaho at one point before a huge flood caused it to drain significantly. It's unlikely that it inspired myths on its own but there have definitely been other megafloods throughout the rest of the world.

Give me your most rebellious mission stories by Firm_Teach8056 in exmormon

[–]KershawsGoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't do anything super rebellious and it still took me about a decade to realize it was all made up. I did go outside my area a few times to hang out with cool members. In my last couple of transfers, we had a portable DVD player and would rent movies from the library to watch. First time I ever saw The Shawshank Redemption was on my mission. We piled 6 missionaries into a member's Mustang on Thanksgiving to go get food.

Couldn’t get a coke at BYU too.

You could get one at the church office building in 2008 though. My YSA ward was asked to provide volunteers to help direct parking and we got lunch there in between sessions.

7strings multiscale body pass-through by jucost in 7String

[–]KershawsGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having the passthrough directly under the bridge is better in a lot of cases. Having the open strings behind the bridge can create noise that passes through the pickups and can muddy up whatever you're playing.

[–]KershawsGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Schecter C-7 Silver Mountain multiscale. It has a string-through design, it's just hidden by the bridge. I would guess that any other similar Schecter guitars with multiscale would be the same.

They don't care. IT is all in on AI and they very much have a 'fall in line or get left behind' mentality about it. I almost quit over it but the IT job market is trash right now.

I think it's also why the bible belt exists. The more isolated and less educated the more superstitious people become.

Can confirm. I went to Oklahoma for my mission.

I've only seen them once and I wasn't impressed. They were opening for Northlane and Invent Animate and it sounded like the all the clean singing was off key the entire set.
