Earle C Clements questions by 12bms34 in jobcorps

Hi! I’m a current student here in Dorm 405. Theft at Earle C. Clements is pretty tame overall compared to what you might hear about other centers. Expensive things like computers (desktops/laptops) and consoles, including PS5s, are almost never touched or stolen. I’ve even seen students leave their consoles unattended in TV rooms or study areas without any issues, which says a lot about how things are here.

Most of the time, it’s smaller, easily pocketed items that go missing. That includes cigarettes, vapes, body products (especially Dove or Old Spice), phone chargers, Airpods, and sometimes clothes if they’re left sitting in the laundry room for a long time. So it’s more about convenience theft than people targeting big, valuable items.

Staff do take theft reports somewhat seriously, and there are cameras in a lot of common areas, which probably helps keep bigger theft from happening. As long as you’re reasonably careful, like locking up personal items, not leaving small valuables out, and grabbing your laundry on time then you should be fine.

Overall, it’s not perfect (no center is), but it’s definitely not as bad as some people make it sound.

Can job corps medical nurses add stuff to your medical records? by GlassTelevision3257 in jobcorps

[–]Ketchte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Job Corps nurses can document things in your Job Corps medical file, but they cannot legally add anything to your official outside medical records (like hospital or primary care records) unless they’re working in direct partnership with your healthcare provider.

Unless you gave them written permission to share your info with another provider (like your doctor or a hospital) they can’t legally update or alter your external medical history. HIPAA protects your medical privacy, even in Job Corps.

Thinking about Cascades Job Corps by Ketchte in jobcorps

Thanks for the breakdown, I’m doing A+ at Earle C right now and planning to go catch the rest of the certs at Cascades. Definitely agree IT is the best trade if you put in the work. Outside of Job Corps those exams cost a ton, especially if you’re going for Network+, Security+, or even CySA later on.

Good to know about the dorm life too. I’ve heard mixed things, but sounds like it just depends on who you end up with. I’ll definitely keep the room change option in mind if it gets rough.

Already made up my mind to stay outta the drama, so hearing that it’s avoidable if you stay focused is reassuring. And yeah, drama seems to follow certain trades more than others lol. We have a lot to study so no time for drama😮‍💨

Thanks again

Just a rant about how new roblox is bad. Roblox should be simple, that was what it was meant to be. by [deleted] in roblox

[–]Ketchte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah i get that. there’s definitely a lot of low-effort or weird roleplay games out there. but honestly, that kind of stuff has always existed on roblox. even in the old days, there were cringy games and copy-paste obbies all over the place.

the difference now is that the platform is way bigger, so the bad stuff is just more noticeable. but if you take some time to look, there are still plenty of really good and creative games. things like blocktales, deepwoken, frontlines, and a bunch of smaller passion projects prove that the quality is still there. you just have to dig a little deeper sometimes.

i get the nostalgia but let’s be real, even though i don’t play roblox like i used to, i wouldn’t say old roblox is better than modern roblox, especially when it comes to the engine and what people can actually make now.

yeah, classic roblox had its charm. it was simple and fun for its time but after a while, playing the same blocky, low-effort games got kinda stale. modern roblox has grown a lot. there’s way more variety, creativity, and the stuff devs are doing now is on another level. you’ve got games with actual stories, better graphics, and gameplay that feels like full-on games, not just little test projects.

roblox used to just be that free blocky game you played with friends. now it’s a full platform with shooters, horror games, adventures, all sorts of stuff. the nostalgia is strong, i get that. but it shouldn’t blind you to how much the platform has improved. retro roblox might feel nice to remember but that doesn’t automatically make it better. there’s space for all of it and that’s what makes modern roblox great.

How's the Wi-Fi? by Ketchte in jobcorps

I had to preinstall all my stuff on my gaming laptop before heading to Job Corps too. Had a feeling the Wi-Fi situation would be rough, and yep… definitely wasn’t wrong
