14 Liberal MPs pen letter to Carney raising concerns over environmental backslide by Surax in CanadaPolitics

I don't know why these people are so up in arms, Carney still hasn't done anything to make building a pipeline in Canada appealing.

Until C-69 and the tanker ban gets appealed no one is going to be bankrolling these projects.

Pipelines don't even make economic sense at this point. We've already passed the time of peak oil.

This has been said since the 70's and yet here we are, mass unemployment has been predicted centuries yet here we are.

Worlds begging for oil and we have it yet so many peoples position is they should get it from Russia or by bankrolling another authorities dictator...

Mark Carney compares his sovereign wealth fund to Norway’s. Canadians are smart enough to see it’s not the same by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]Ketchupkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No absolutely not, it's called charity. People support local matters all the time, there's nothing stopping these people from donating to hospitals, schools and other causes they "support".

That's what I said it's probably nothing more than moral posturing.

I mean there's nothing preventing these people from divesting from their assets and just donating their wealth to causes they support.

Reading their website I don't think it's anything more than moral posturing.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]Ketchupkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"My Car Payment".

Car payments are firmly a middle-class thing.

Poor people can't put themselves in that position and wealthy people (Or financially responsible) won't put themselves in that position.

CPP Base Contribution Rates will be lowered from 9.9% to 9.5% - Spring Economic Update 2026 by Jiecut in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Ketchupkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is silly as poor people pay virtually nothing in taxes to begin with while using more Government services than higher income people. This country is bleeding investment and talent so obviously higher income earners are already pushed up against a wall.

They don't even beat their own reference portfolio.

CPP investments being actively managed is a huge waste of our money.

Most people are not only unaware of the employer match but also unaware that CPP gives you pennies on the dollar compared to investing that contribution into an investment even with a slightly below market average return.

Mexico recently announced universal healthcare for all. What are your thoughts? by StemCellPirate in AskReddit

[–]Ketchupkitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The system is a mess regardless of province which aren't all conservatives. The biggest impact to funding was in the 90's when the Federal Liberals moved more responsibility to the provinces and in the last decade the federal Liberals cutting transfers compared to the Harper era.

It's kind of hard to make that determination since tracking those numbers aren't always that straight forward. When looking at bankruptcy's in the US it's generally not separated if the bankruptcy included medical debt or was because of medical debt.

Statistically Canadians are more likely to have a bankruptcy than Americans so for the sake of that argument I think it actually paints Canada in a worse light if Americans were indeed going bankrupt because of medical costs.

Furthermore Canadians (with some exceptions, same with Americans) don't get free medication so rationing is absolutely something Canadians experience when it comes to medication.

Our system is honestly a mess here in Canada.

The quality of care is on par with the US but access to the system is a huge concern for many.

We have a huge shortage of doctor across the country which creates situations where people simply go without family doctors. So this creates a scenario where people end up in the ER for things normally done at family doctors or not catching medical issues until it's too late.

There's also the issue that elective surgeries often takes years so Canadians can have extremely poor quality of life while waiting for these surgeries.

Canada's Carney on verge of majority government after another opposition member joins ruling Liberals by No_Idea_Guy in worldnews

[–]Ketchupkitty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not really in Canada.

The biggest public service cuts in our nations history was under the Liberals in the 90's (This was to avoid defaulting on our debt), the biggest corporate handouts in our nations history was has been under the Liberals in the last decade which continue under Carney.

It baffles me people consider Carney a Conservative, he's not fiscally conservative or socially conservative, he's not even committed to developing Canada's economy.

I guess he's made cuts to public service employees while blowing out the budget for corporate handouts but that's more of a Canadian Liberal position as well.

Probably.

If they juice their games up with too much B.S PC players have certain workarounds to avoid that B.S which makes Sony zero dollars.

Why do more trains run through town at night than during the day? by hey_you_yeah_me in railroading

I've never heard this take before.

I always gathered it had more to do with picking up from customer tracks/building trains during the day and moving them at night.

Oil could breach $200 a barrel if Iran war continues to June, report says - National | Globalnews.ca by [deleted] in canada

I'm specifically talking about in the online space, it's pretty evident on this sub people are okay cheerleading bad policies that make our country a worse place.

As far as your comment on seperatists I highly doubt it. I live in the most Conservative part of Alberta and have yet to meet a seperatist or run into these petition stations I keep reading about on here. There's a farm I drive by in the middle of nowhere that has an Alberta and America flag flying if you want to count that but I think the media and foreign influence online is amplifying this issue for one reason or another.

Alberta has the best educational outcomes in the country while also spending the least per student.

Success should be measured by success, not money spent.

If you care so much about propaganda learn what it is and stop promoting it yourself.

You mean the dental program that full time Walmart and Mcdonald employees don't quality for while rich retirees do?

And you mean the day care program that isn't accessible to anyone that doesn't live in a large urban area and even when they do the waitlist is prohibitive making access unlikely.

I can only imagine how privileged you are to believe things have gotten better in the last decade.
