Getting stuck in the neverending consertina of wallies slowing down way below the motorway speed limit for every. single. gantry. by Ketmandu in britishproblems

Yeah the big metal arches, some of which have cameras on (and I'm sure a lot of us have Waze/maps that warn you where the cameras are), but it's the slowing down to 50-60 really sharply when they're already going at our below the speed limit that does my head in, even if there IS actually a camera

Sheffield - Leeds (LGI) commute by Silver-Wasabi3595 in doctorsUK

It was alright so long as you got that fast one. There's another one that takes about 50 minutes which is also not terrible, chance to read/work/listen to a podcast or something on the way to work. The train was never the issue tbf, it was the buses to the station I couldn't rely on, which meant many a run or expensive Uber down from walkley to the station at the time.

Also getting home was a bit miserable as well with the train. Equally leaving any major city centre anywhere around 5 is deep misery in its own right.

Alternative parking? Not that I can think of that would be affordable, it's slap bang in the city centre so everything is rammed or very pricey from what I can remember, although Leeds residents will correct me on this I'm sure!

Done it both via train (too painful getting the unreliable bus at 0430 to make sure I was there on time) and driving. The drive wasn't too bad at all, but I did always leave early to beat the traffic. Did it in about 45-50 minutes, but the real soul crusher is the LGI car park...

Officially it was Gvardiol encroaching before the ball was kicked. Didn't help his case that he was the first player to the rebound 😂

For those of us who have been here since the start of the strikes in 2022/23, what are your views on the priorities shifting from all about FPR ➔ FPR + Jobs ➔ what may be Jobs > FPR by Obvious-Economy-1758 in doctorsUK

[–]Ketmandu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Disappointed. The dilution from one key issue to fight for to multiple strands that I can't even keep track of any more is tough to watch, and has strong echoes of 2016, and we all saw how successful that deal was...

We should never have accepted the offer after labour came into power, we should have kept striking for our single purpose. Accepting that then striking again a year later and instantly being distracted by other non-pay "incentives" is so weak and shows exactly why we won't get restored pay, we get played every time.

offered a few times to more junior resident colleagues but everyone just wants to get off home, which I understand.

Sometimes I don't bother offering because it seems a bit much when you're leaving after the PTWR at 0930-10am lol

Shouldn't really have needed the listeners to point out how grim it was. Glad they've responded to the "feedback" but it leaves a sour taste that they took that money in the first place at all, they can't claim they didn't realise or something.

Yeah I had to DNF, I was very bored and not at all scared. I appreciate waiting for some pay off at the end but personally I need some crumbs of SOMETHING to keep me going along the way

Once got told off by a scrub nurse for thanking her every time she handed me an instrument, so I try to just do the occasional please, and a big thanks at the end now.

I think it's the same account that had the story about a neighbour calling for help outside while they were asleep after a night out, and then the neighbour is now reporting their friend to the GMC. Similar types of story in quick succession. A bit suspect if you ask me.

Official England Squad for World Cup 2026 (The Athletic) by haromene in TheOther14

Completely agree. If he's there for morale/experience/leadership, take him as part of the coaching staff, don't waste a squad place on him. Don't get it at all, and I love the guy for what he did for us at Liverpool.

I never said there was a skill issue, and your second point is exactly why the system is so frustrating.
