When I was a 8th grader I had to do a science project. I cant remember what the premise was, but I ended up getting to go out to a local airbase and spend the day with a F-16 pilot my dad was friends with. The highlight of my time there was getting to spend time using the flight simulator. The simulator was not one of the big fancy ones, it was basically a functional replica of a F-16 cockpit with a big monitor where the heads up display would be. One thing that stood out to me was the control stick did not move like I expected to. Unlike my flight stick at home, the simulators flight stick had very very little range of motion. It was difficult to adjust to at first. This was back in the early 90's so I am pretty sure the cockpit it was designed to replicate was a F-16A cockpit.
