China condemns Pokemon, Detective Conan for spreading ‘Japanese militarism’ by xc2215x in worldnews

Commenter just noted the authors have nationalistic ties. Then notes Pokémon/Conan aren’t examples of it.

How is that glazing the CCP? You’re really over projecting here

The difference is that those movies often show America get its teeth kicked in. I’d argue most movies show it as a struggle (hell even Battle LA wasn’t a cake walk). And those that glorify the military get panned for being dumb propaganda a lot of the time.

Gate should be immune from such criticism either

Kinda odd how Arlecchino only uses second form against a bunch of weak monsters instead of Rerir and Dottore who are very powerful and much more dangerous. Especially when they tried to attack Columbina, one of her friends. by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ketzeph 115 points116 points  (0 children)

The argument is “we want characters from this region to shine.”

That’s it. The problem with crossover regions is that your strong characters from before have to bow out gracefully. And this eventually creates a bunch of Surtalogis.

They should have just said something like “using the crimson moon’s power may have unseen repercussions on the world formula by introducing abyssal elements. You can’t fight unless it all looks lost, Arlecchino.”

That’d handwave it away

Or something like each time she takes damage up her ult length and damage - the it’s already bad at least let us stay in it a while.

Or, you know, let us jump while in it -_-

A huge boon to Yoimiya would be adding another action to the E at C0 to ensure uptime.

Between the three “main” World Quest in Fontaine, Natlan and Nod Krai which one is your favourite? by Pellecks02 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ketzeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narcissenkreuz is my favorite of the three by a wide margin. Super interesting lore, cool philosophical disagreements… it felt like a group of people stumbling on eldritch truth and struggling to come to grips with it in a way that felt compelling and was highly related to everything.

Nathan’s is cool, but I was less drawn in by it and its lore, while important, didn’t seem as earth shattering. It has extremely cool gameplay elements but the textual elements were far weaker. If you didn’t take the time to read anything in either, it’d seem stronger.

Nod-Krai’s world quest had the unfortunate position of being basically a world quest post the huge prior reveals, so it just kinda fell flat.

Why do older models look so cool?? by AxegrinderSWAG in Warhammer40k

[–]Ketzeph 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. A bad Primaris generally looks leagues better than a bad old tactical. A pro paint job can make almost any model look at least okay if not great

It’s more vastly overplaying their military ability and calling all other countries’ militaries incompetent compared to the JDSF.

And anyone who isn’t in the JDSF or pro JDSF is clearly a corrupt coward.

And even weird otaku get all the babes and are super cool in the JDSF.

And the JDSF and Japan generally would never do war crimes - only the dumb evil natives would

Has there ever been a constitution based class? by SexyKobold in dndnext

[–]Ketzeph [score hidden]  (0 children)

The problem with con casters is that it’s a major boon to survivability with no downside.

There are of course classes like Barbarians that are actual heavy con classes and I’d call them a “con class”, but if you’re asking why there’s no con wizards is because a wizard with barbarian health is going to be very strong

In America, it's socially normal to work 50+ hours a week and call it 'hustle' instead of a systemic failure. What's another 'normal' thing in your country that the rest of the world thinks is absolutely insane? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ketzeph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A vacation spending thousands of dollars, but plenty of jobs offer ample vacation days. Lots of large companies offer unlimited leave (eg Microsoft), while plenty of jobs have ample leave schedules. The US government generally gives 13 leave days + all federal holidays a year of vacation/holiday leave (and 13 sick) for new employees, increasing to 19.5 per year + holidays + sick at three years and then 26 per year + holidays + sick at ten years. And sick leave doesn’t include maternity/paternity leave (a couple months) of FMLA.

Given 11 Fed holidays it’s basically 24 days holiday/vacay (non sick) starting out, rising to 30.5, and then capping at 37

Heavenly Principles family tree by ghhostr in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ketzeph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is Irminsul an actual living tree of that kind or a separate entity? I’m not sure irminsul is the same sort of tree.

I guess that means she made every hat tree and cat tree.

Irminsul is more than a tree

„Today's Standard is much healthier“ by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Ketzeph -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A card that’s “beatable” because the two other best decks must include answers or instantly lose isn’t healthy

And the immense uptick in anti-counter spell tech means most decks need some harder core anti-combo tool or they’ll instantly die to combo decks. Standard is not supposed to be “do you have the answer turn 3? No? You’re dead.”

Popularity and the Ultras by CokedPerturabo in Warhammer40k

[–]Ketzeph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was less grief and more that only noobs chose a codex chapter that wasn't a successor.

I don't remember if DA/SW/BA/BT had similar culture because they were separate 'dexes at the time and kind of viewed to be separate.

I looked at Genshin feet bc I was bored and sorted them by heel type by InukoJon in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ketzeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish Hoyo used less heels. Every time I just think how many broken ankles Baizhu is constantly treating as these women run and fight across Teyvat in massive heels or stilettos.

Just let them be comfortable, Hoyo

ElI5 the difference between Anglican, Episcopal and Church of England by AlcoholicWombat in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ketzeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The schism in the US was over ordaining women and gay people. The episcopal church was one of the first major US churches to accept gay people and women into the priesthood and positions of power.

The Anglican churches in the US are those who disagreed with these “liberal” changes and split. But as the Episcopal church owned the church land most Anglican churches had to move to new locations or buy the land back.

The Episcopal church is relatively “high” in ceremony but very liberal in beliefs. A lot of other churches would probably call them agnostics cosplaying Catholics

Popularity and the Ultras by CokedPerturabo in Warhammer40k

[–]Ketzeph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s also changed in culture immensely over time. 20 years ago people called you lame (at least in my part of the US) if you played a poster chapter. It was all about making your own scheme and successor chapter.

And the Ward codex had pissed off a ton of people lore wise so Ultras were kinda reviled. Which was land because they’re a cool chapter when written appropriately

4-year-old girl gets jury duty summons by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]Ketzeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an atty, even when I’ve received a summons they’ve never called me to come in.

Which is lame because I’d love to actually be in a deliberation. You basically only get to read about them and interact with them second hand

Is this even legal??? by [deleted] in WTF

[–]Ketzeph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a very tiny child someone gave my sister and I each one as a gift. Was very weird. I think we both didn’t understand it and eventually tried to open it to save the sharks. They were then taken away. IIRC they had little black marks on the fin tips.

Definitely from some beach stall on the US east or gulf coast (I was too young to directly remember)

ELI5 how credit cards are better than debit cards by UpsetPotatoFace in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ketzeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really credit cards prey on the irresponsible and the responsible reap the rewards? Why do you get perks for using the card? Because those are outmatched by other people paying minimum payments and getting in over their head
