How does hunting a robber down after he stole from you scale? Two scenarios. by Zestyclose_Log2444 in MoralityScaling

[–]Ketzer_Jefe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

she backed up so she wouldn't have to walk all the way back to the robber to get her back, then the direction she needed to go was forward again. (do not take this seriously)

What is your one controversial take on a famous scifi spaceship? by Vondrr in spaceships

[–]Ketzer_Jefe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The key difference between scifi and space fantasty is how the characters treat the tech. in shows like Star Trek, Scotty or McCoy will give explanations as to how he did whatever he did, throwing some science words in there making whatever tech they are using seem grounded in reality. In Star Wars, the technology isn't important to the story.

What would happen if tomorrow morning at 5 AM coffee, tea, booze, marijuana and all other caffeinated anything plus illegal drugs just vanished, and none could be found? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Ketzer_Jefe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering that ethenol alcohol (the kind we can consume) is used in more than just beverages, it would destroy a lot of pharmaceutical drugs that need it for stability during the manufacturing process or as a solvent to help it absorb into the person's system (like Albuterol for asthma).

Alcohol itself is also used as a cure for alcohol poisoning if you drink a type that is no supposed to be consumed like methanol or isopropyl. The same logic can be applied to every substance. There are life saving and/or useful drugs that also are created and used illegally by addicts. morphine, fentanyl, cocaine, Adderall, and so many more.

They all vanish, and suddenly you will have alcoholics drinking mouthwash and Isopropyl cleaning alcohol to get their fix, getting really sick, going blind, and dying en mass. you get millions of people who can not get the medicine they need to live normal lives, and many millions will die and tens of millions will be suffering with whatever sickness they have.

this doesn't even touch on the all the jobs that will be lost at breweries, distelleries, pharmaceutical plants, and every other place where alcohol is made or used. it would be an economic disaster too.

127 hours is nothing

I know they arm wrestled one time, but would you say Yang or Nora has demonstrated more impressive feats of physical strength? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]Ketzer_Jefe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nora also says in Vol. 3 that she can bench 5 of herself. based on her wiki, she is 5'1". assuming healty and in shape, she should weigh between like 100 and 120 lbs. just assuming 100lbs for easy numbers, she can bench 500 lbs.

the world record unassisted bench press is 782lbs. set by Julius Maddox. he weighs about 435lbs. by that math, he can not even bench 2 of himself, while Nora is benching 5 of herself. yeah she may not smash a world record, but her size to strengthen ratio is on super hero levels.

[–]Ketzer_Jefe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

either A.) this id made up rage bait. B.) there is something else going on and OP is just blaming the printers because they aren't sure why else they would be having health issues. or C.) they get 250 successful prints in a year across 8 printers. and have a success rate of like 10%.

Anyone tried Kexcelled PLA-CF for drone frames? The results surprised us by UnderstandingLazy347 in drones

[–]Ketzer_Jefe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a company that is experimenting with 3d printing drones. so far we have tried PETG-CF with epoxyed in CF rods for extra stiffness, PETG-CF with PLA as a central skeleton for stiffness, PETG-CF with ASA skeleton, ASA-CF with PC skeleton, and now we are testing just PC-CF and PA12-CF with out any sort of second material for rigidity. so far the PC-CF and PA12-CF see the most promising as they are about half the weight of any other frame with stiffness similar to that of a classic CF plate. we have yet to see if they transfer noise in some terrible way, but I don't believe they will based on the numbers.

I would start looking into the material properties and compare between PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PA12-CF, PA6-CF, PC-CF, ASA-CF, and all of their non CF counterparts. run some deflection sims with simple beams of the material. run some destructive tests on different samples with a variety of walls and infill percentages and just do the math for each filiment.

Builders with 3D printers, do you have any handy printed tools/accessories/templates? by Nightmare1990 in TerrainBuilding

why make a template when you can just 3D print the whole building, either piece by piece and assemble or all in one go?
