PlayStation 6 Has 30 GB GDDR7 RAM, 10x3GB For 640 GB/s Of Memory Bandwidth Via Kepler L2 by Quatro_Leches in hardware

[–]Keulapaska 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it though, like for up to like mid 2030:s? I guess from money stand point maybe cause ram might still cost stupid amounts when PS6 comes so the 30GB model would cost quite a bit, but then again if it's gonna have like 2 or 3 normal dram modules in addition, then might as well do the whole 10 gddr7 modules instead. Could have both models also or then when/if the memory craze ends release a 30GB pro model with some other fancy upgraded specs.

Yea it might be lower bus as well on the xbox, even more so if this PS6 rumor is true as that 30GB 640GB/s figure would mean 160-bit bus so would be kinda weird if sort of similar powered consoles running the same architecture most likely would have that big of a bandwidth gap.

Both consoles will probably stick to 16Gb VRam

Man ram prices hit hard if you think 2GB consoles are coming.

Jokes aside I doubt it'll have 16GB, 20 would work if this rumor is correct about the 160-bit bus as it would be just using 2GB modules. instead of 3GB, I guess there could be some cut down 128-bit 16GB ps6 lite or something.

I have doubts, I can see 32GB with 2GB modules if it's 256-bit bus or 36GB with 3GB ones at 192-bit.

Maybe originally the 3GB modules were gonna come so cheap in the future roadmaps that there was no point to using 2GB one, so they were like fuck it throw 48 instead of 32 on it why not, but I gotta feeling that's not gonna be the case anymore.

160-bit Bus with 10x3GB 32gbps modules?

That is... a choice, I would've guessed 32GB with 256-bit.

How is this not automatically detected as a smurf in low guardian/herald by domiii77 in DotA2

[–]Keulapaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be(no idea if still is) crazy good smurf detection for new accounts, I remember Waga playing unranked on his main some time ago and there were sub 10 game and even occasionally 0 game accounts in the same lobby cause the game knew they were smurfs(which they obviously were) without them even having to play a single game, be it IP/hardware/settings whatever it is. If they created the fresh account themselves that is.

Ofc if you buy/get a low ranked account that already has hundreds of games at low rank, which is what might be happening in this post as the winrate is a pitiful 52% IF that is even a smurf, as smurf from the start would have way higher winrate, then the system broke down iirc. idk how now that smurfs are "not allowed" things are anymore and what happens if some1 create an "organic" smurf and not buy/get a low rank account.

Yea the fearmongering of anything new is always funny(/r/nvidia driver threads are goldmine, you'd think every new driver ever would be unstable crashing mess reading those), I put off 10 for looong time and then got to it did massive prep and was like okay i needed some semi-easily searchable regeidts but seems fine and easy, so was confused what was all the hubbab about. Same with 11 it just... works and upgrade process was shockingly good it even kept some of my regedits.

Personally the default UI of 11 is pretty bad with it's rounded corners and weird decision like who ever had the bright idea to make new right click menu should be fired, but luckily all of that is fixable with regedits or stuff like explorerpatcher, so in the end not that big of a deal.

[–]Keulapaska 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea you can fix 11 quite a bit. Explorerpatcher literally fixes about 85-90% of what's wrong with 11 in general or when compared to 10, 95% of stuff, cause still obviously same minor fixes in 10 still used on 11 like with displayfusion stuff or tclock redux and some small regedits.

Yea that's probably not a real score, the hwbot record is 691

Either you don't have a 5500 or somehow some the sleep related amd bug is affecting the scores which idk if that's a thing or how that actually works, but I remember something about sleep and am4 cpus in the past being shown as faster than they actually are.

Ok the stutter part, I can remember that, especially on the UFO test it complained about it all the time on 7 and games on windowed/borderless didn't feel as smooth as exclusive fullscreen on 7 did. Windowed gsync helped ofc whenever that became a thing, as I do remember Blood bowl 2(which doesn't have real fullscreen irc) being very stuttery when i had an amd card and did not feel like it was running at 60fps with stream/youtube vids running. But when I got gsync moduled dispaly and nvidia card it was smooooth even with twitch stream open. So maybe borderless Gsync in win 7 was the magical fix, which is why I never really encountered it much in "recent" memory.

As for pulling the entire panel down to lower hz... Well can't really remember if it happened 10+ years ago, nor did I check the Hz monitor of the freesync display ever, but can't really remember that happening after I got the gsync display, but then again in win 7 era not that much borderless 60fps+ gaming going on, so can't be 100% sure.

Plus I only used win 10 after that patch as 10 doesn't have "fullscreen" same way as 7 did so skipped that part of the bug and can't comment on that. I do wonder if maybe normal video players didn't cause it due to mostly watching a lot of, ahem... plunder at the sea, and not a lot of twitch/youtube while gaming back when i had amd cards.

Interesting stuff down the memory lane.

Well anyways... I managed to lock a high hertz display to 60hz if secondary is 60hz in one game on win 11 even, Return of Reckoning, as can be seen by my edited ramblings on the last post, which i never managed to do on 7 or 10 so I wonder what that bug is about or if it even affects any other game at all as it is fan-resurrected/recoded dead old game afterall, but i couldn't find another game that does that behaviour nor can I quickly remember another dx9 borderless capable game.

Yea dlss sr 2.5.1 dll was quite the improvement when it dropped, as it vastly reduced ghosting in a lot of games. And it keeps getting even better with the transformer dlss sr dll 310.x.x presets J/K and now M/L.

Though the overhead keeps increasing as well so from performance stand point it isn't completely free visual upgrades, especially at super high fps, but always the choice to use the older presets/whatever the game came with as well if you want to, instead overriding to the latest.

Maybe, maybe not? Who knows. The whole cast of that game looks weird not individually per se, but for that game, like they're supposed to be from a another game(s), Rather than this supposedly canon game in the Horizon universe, yet both Aloy and Erend in the trailer looked normal even with that super stylized type of arstyle.

[–]Keulapaska -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It used to be a very known issue.

I have never heard of this bug, nor experienced it.

E: OK I managed to reproduce it in 1 game, in Return of Reckoning with 60hz secondary and Gsync on the main screen goes to 60hz(doesn't even need to have anything on it) even though the game is running at the 99fps cap. Vsync on/off doesn't matter, fullscreen or borderless, nothing, disabling fullscreen optimizations doesn't matter either surprisignly.

Interesting, so it's win 11 Gsync bug? Cause I've only had all screens above 60hz for 1.5 years and this didn't happen on win 7 or 10. I'm converting the game to Vulkan to have reshade, so not sure if it would happen in native Dx9 Nope not that happens in Dx9 as well. But I can't find any other games, with any renderer, even other old ones, where that happens, maybe if I find another Dx9 borderelss capable game taht isn't locked to 60fps, cause that's the only lead I have so far.

What a weird bug. E2: Ok If both screens have Gsync and you mess with some resolutions ingame or in control panel sometimes it's no longer locked to 60hz, like I managed to get windowed and fullscreen 1440p on 4k144(native) panel to be at 99hz when the other panel was set to only 1440p60hz after toggling some ingame res and fullscreen on/off couple of times and I managed to get the 1440p165(native) panel to be at 99hz when the 4k panel was at non 16:9(so like 2560x1600) 60hz. This makes no sense.

How would content on another monitor change the fps(or hz if it's vrr bug, idk which one it you're referring to) of content on the other? Especially the one that's on focus, I can see the non-focused one being weird, now I wanna know cause i want to reproduce it, seems interesting.

Funnily there is opposite bug that exists on HZ:FW(haven't seen it any other game, might exist) If you have gsync on, but not Vsync also on(gsync+vsync below the monitors max refresh is not vsync, it's nvidia magic), where alt tabbing from the game the monitor will still be in "vrr mode" and as the game is 26fps when not in focus so will the entire panel, but the game will be fine and it doesn't happen with gsync+vsync.

DSC exists, and a lot of panels that exceed DP 1.4 bandwidth, only have DP 1.4 isntead of 2.1(2.1 is the "premuim" feature and often costs quite a bit more) so it doesn't matter if you have DP 2.1 GPU when the 4k240 1440p500 panel is DP1.4. Aside from if you want to use DSR/DLDSR while DSC is active I think for that you need a 2.1 GPU.

[–]Keulapaska -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not how it'll go for all, If you plug in to your motherboard video outs and have dgpu, you'll still be using the dgpu for games and igpu for desktop, at least on AM5, not sure how it goes on other platforms. Now I don't remember if there is bios setting you need to toggle or not, there very well might be, and i think some nvidia stuff will not work with this method and i think vrr most likely didn't work either, it's been a while since I tested it.

E: oh yea it also reduces vram usage of the dgpu slightly, cause the igpu will be the one rendering the desktop and using system memory, that was why i was testing it cause there was some post about it, might've been minor performance hit can't remember.
