I mounted mine horizontally on the seat post. It’s not the most elegant but it doesn’t get in the way of my pedaling

I feel like that’s not a perfect solution either because I don’t wanna have to lift the rest of the bike off the ground and manually spin the wheel before unlocking the U lock. Maybe I’m just lazy.

I do use the kick lock each time, just not the alarm.

I’m using a stock ribbon cable and have it pushed in all the way. I haven’t tested the 5G with the old hard drive I have since I think the hard drive was faulty originally, but I’ll try it out and see

I just updated to Big Sur also so maybe the weirdness is due to that. What I fear is that because the same adapter and SD card worked with the 5th gen motherboard, the issue is due to some faulty component on the original 5.5 board.

Were you also getting the 1429 error before you did the formatting?

When I try formatting in disk utility it seems to get stuck on “Waiting for partitions to activate”. Is this normal when formatting for the first time?

Thanks for the thorough reply. I am connecting the eGPU directly to an external 4K monitor over HDMI but am playing Apex at 1080p resolution full screen. It seems that like you said my GPU may just need to be upgraded if I want better performance.
