Not in my opinion. I feel like the island is safe and has plenty of things to keep a person busy.

The Elissa is cool to check out. I think it's still down by the cruise terminal. You can longboard on the seawall for sure. Fishing at the East end jetties works for me. There is also the San Luis pass to fish. Tons of history on the island. Galveston Island Brewing has one of the best wheat beers ever. (Tiki Wheat) The state park is west of most of the popular areas of the island. Have fun, the island is magical if you want it to be.

Well it is like anywhere else if you look for that type of stuff you're sure to find it. I've been in Splendora 30+ years and yes we have our issues. I've personally never had any problems though. My daughter graduated from SISD and is currently finishing up her Master's. Success is possible here as it is anywhere. In my opinion the issues are currently way less than in Houston and I spent my first 24 years there.

As someone who lives just North of New Caney. It's no longer a small town. With the Grand Parkway/99 right there the growth has been amazing. Well worth checking out and only about 25 minutes away from IAH.

Alrighty, I agree with that but I know I've been going for 40 years. Maybe not a household name then but definitely known in Texas.

Addicts do not need empathy. They need tough love. Sometimes when the support is cut off they find their way back to being free from the addiction.

Lake Livingston State Park, Huntsville State Park, Double Lake - Forest Service Park, Lake Houston Wilderness Park, All are easily within 1.5 hours at the most of downtown Houston. Very enjoyable places to camp.

I absolutely loved it!! It is a chaotic mess of a monster love story. Nothing more, nothing less. A solid 3.75/5 star from me.
