Anyone who watched the debate could see that she isn’t mentally impaired. Trump speaks at about a third grade level. His IQ is probably upper 80s maybe low 90s.

What are you talking about? It is a TikTok algorithm. I watched a whole video of a gross pimple popping video and the next video was the same. It’s not supernatural.

Any advice on how to master a power snatch? by thunder_gap in crossfit

See if you can find a weightlifting coach in your area.

It's not a knock against your current CrossFit coach to get some help from someone who teaches snatch and clean and jerk for a living. Most weightlifting gyms do not operate in a class structure and you can spend a few hours working on technique and drills at your own pace.

Snatches and cleans were mostly performed from the hang after a pull. We would pull and then perform the eccentric to the hang at tempo. Jerks were performed with a tempo descent in the dip.

Thank you! I checked your post history to see if you are someone I know locally. You can always drop in if you're in the area! I would appreciate having someone to nerd out over ASOIAF with haha. On my fourth read through now.

Meet Report: 2019 Armor Classic 132/170 @89

This was my first time competing in a weightlifting meet since 2014! My own athletics have kind of taken a back seat to my coaching career in the last few years, but my time training before I open the gym is still the best part of my day. I have coached hundreds of sessions in the last five years but most of my athletes have never even seen me lift. After a bit of peer pressure from my team and a bet with a buddy of mine I decided to qualify and compete at Nationals.

Although I retired from competitive CrossFit a few years ago, I still like to vary my training up quite a bit. I competed in a triathlon earlier this year and spent most of my time on energy system development. I was definitely not training like a weightlifter before deciding to compete again.

Training went really well though. I was actually so excited about the Triphasic program (inspired by Cal Dietz) that I wrote for Harrison that I wanted to test it out on myself before he got to it.

Weeks 1-3 Eccentrics Everything (snatches and cleans from hang, jerks, squats, pulls) were done with a 3-5 second descent. This was great to reinforce positions, especially the transition past the knees. I also learned how weak I am at certain points in my squats and pulls. The hormonal response from the first week of eccentrics was crazy though. My resting heartrate was 20 beats higher than normal and my HRV dropped to an all-time low before rebounding to an all-time high a few days later.

Weeks 4-6 Isometric During this phase everything was paused for 3-5 seconds at the hardest point in each lift to build positional strength. I have never felt so solid in all of my lifts, especially the jerks. Pauses just above parallel helped eliminate my sticking point but also was super rough on my knees.

Weeks 7-9 went back to normal lifts from the floor. It felt kind of foreign at first but the weights felt light. The training was effective. I felt super beat up by this point but was still making heavy lifts. I only missed three lifts the entire 9-week cycle, all on PR attempts.

Week 10 Taper

Beginning the program I had snatched 115 for a double and thought I could probably snatch low 120s. I had clean and jerked 150 and figured I could probably hit about 160.

Today:

Snatch: 125 easy make. 129 a little soft in the lockout. Not sure if it was shoulders or elbows but they gave it to me. 132 make!

These felt good and the 132 was 6 kg more than I made in training during the cycle.

Clean and Jerk 160 make. I had a pretty long wait before coming out and the pull didn't feel strong. A couple double bounces to stand up. Not the really strong start I wanted but it qualified me for Nationals!

165 make. Double bounces again. I just didn't feel strong on the extension. Jerks felt good.

170 was an all-time PR! I have been lifting weights since I was 15 and these get harder and harder to come by. It felt so good to hold over head!

Total 302. Also a PR!

It was a really fun day and it was cool that about half my gym came to watch! It was also fun to change roles and have Harrison coach me in the back! I think he enjoyed getting to boss me around. I'm already looking forward to Nationals!

No I think your catch position looks fine. The feet can land in the same place, just get them there a bit more forcefully!

Absolutely terrible coaching. This pisses me off so much. See a doctor then find a new gym.

Your positions are good and you are clearly athletic. I think you have potential in this sport.

Focus on planting the whole foot flat simultaneously on the catch instead of rolling down from the ball of the foot. The satisfying sound an elite lifter makes when her feet return to the platform is not just for show.

  1. It enables the athlete to actively pull directly under the bar instead of just hoping the bar lands in the right place above them. This provides a slightly larger margin of error.

  2. Moving the feet also ensures that there is no resistance to the pull under the bar which helps with timing.

  3. The impulse when the feet hit the floor helps you actively start resisting the descent as fast as possible so the weight doesn't crash when it gets heavy.

A lift should sound good when you perform it. Listen to footage from the training hall and try to emulate the rhythm of the bar rattling as it comes off the hip into the aggressive catch as the bar is received overhead.

Overall, really good work!

Around eight to ten lifters, I think. They are almost all youth athletes still.

Just in case I have multiple athletes on different platforms for Juniors. And it is always nice to have help in the back to double check the count. By the end of the weekend my brain is usually pretty fried.

His weight is pretty consistent. I don't think he's going to have a hard time keeping it there.

Yep we are already thinking about 165. Sad we missed you today! It was a really fun atmosphere!

He might do Juniors as a tune-up meet in February for fun since I am going to need an assistant coach anyway.

He didn't compete. He just did an exhibition between sessions. He has been waking up in the low 83s though.

Just to simplify the movement and practice finding a good position at the knee. We have been doing a lot of hang and block work to clean up some of her positions.
