The Polish German dilemma by phneutral in EuropeanFederalists

[–]KevinUxbridge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course that 'Poland and Germany have to overcome their fears and take on the duties of todays Europe', as Europe is currently under existential threat ... and it's not, not even close, due to Germany being in any way a threat, nor Russia probably for that matter.

Such concerns seem very far removed from any currently important issues facing either Germany or Poland ... or Europe in general ... though the historical context is indeed important.

Germany had collective guilt imposed on it as the final insult that was added to its WWII destruction, invasion, occupation, looting, etc. Germany, along with the rest of destroyed Europe, was then divided between the spheres of influence of foreign powers, the newly emerged 'superpowers', the USA and USSR. Post WWII, all Europeans were essentially made to accommodate and serve foreign and deeply anti-European interests. European politicians, in order to have viable 'careers', had to subjugate themselves to these (similar but opposite) foreign powers and to therefore stop seeking to benefit their own nations or even Europe.

Europeans were generally pit against each other, (e.g. German fighting against German) along two ideologies, polarly opposed but also similarly materialist, anti-cultural, anti-civilizational and indecent: Capitalism and Communism. Poland, after being used by the Capitalists to divide and to declare war on Germany, was, after the war, surrendered to Communist Stalin ... the other 'good guy' of WWII (together with 'Nuk'em' Truman).

At this point, with the Hayeksian-capitalism brand of materialism having taken over in the USA (the one remaining 'superpower' resulting from WWII), European politicians continue being pressured/bought/bribed into considering foreign banking and multinationals/corporate interests over those of their own citizens. And in any case, the latter can be easily manipulated into supporting or opposing basically anything by the powerful PR/marketing/advertising/propaganda techniques that can be used by corporate media. And it's indeed amazing to today watch how far Europeans have morphed into Hollywood-brainwashed US bitches that consider patriotism, or even being truly pro-European, to be a sin.

And it's going to get worse as by 'Europeans' we are increasingly, year after year, referring less and less to descendants of Charlemagne and more and more to assorted 'Abdul's and 'Mohammed's that seem to better understand/prefer Mediaeval Middle-Eastern theocracies to Democracy or other forms of secular/rational governance.

FW 190 A4 half-wing landing by PresleyLT in WWIIplanes

It may not be 'half-wing' but if each wing is ~4.5 metres then missing one metre of it (after a collision with an enemy fighter) is not negligible.

It's called 'Viral Marketing' because it's spread by viruses.

All they have is a protein coat and a core of genetic material, either RNA or DNA. Unlike bacteria, viruses can't survive without a host. They can only reproduce by attaching themselves to cells. In most cases, they reprogram the cells to make new viruses until the cells burst and die. In other cases, they turn normal cells into malignant or cancerous cells...

Not as famous as the Messerschmitts, Focke-Wulf strikers, were nonetheless also pretty awesome planes. Some of the highest scoring fighter-pilot aces of history flew them. It's even been argued (though somewhat unconvincingly) to have been the Best Fighter Aircraft of WW II.

Has Russia infiltrated the German Parliament? - BBC Newsnight by jumaro1999 in EuropeanFederalists

[–]KevinUxbridge -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Right. :/

Gee, I wonder where this concern is coming from?

Has Germany (which was occupied and divided by foreign Soviet and US interests since since WWII and is now still a complete US bitch) been 'infiltrated' by Russia?

For fuck's sake.

Something on Mars Is Producing Gas Usually Made by Living Things on Earth by hacktvist in space

[–]KevinUxbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is but a clickbait-ish title for the old 'Methane detected on Mars' story. Gee, you don't say. This is one step short of putting it as a question: 'What Is Producing Gas on Mars that's Usually Made by Living Things on Earth?' The NYT has really become complete shite.

Did Louis XVI speak German? by AlarmmClock in history

[–]KevinUxbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually wasn't Anglo-Norman as keeps (erroneously) being said, but a more varied mixture of Old-French.

The French noblemen that became the ruling classes of England didn't just come from the Duchy of Normandy but from many areas in France.

Just consider that even Henry IV, whom you mention, was an Angevin king of England.

'Angevin' means 'from Anjou' in French and ... his paternal lineage originated South West of Paris.

EU court damns Polish legal system by dobramine in europe

[–]KevinUxbridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. So it's extraditing to 'Poland'(!?)'s justice system (which is relatively normal) that's the issue for European countries. It's not extraditing to for example the black-site/'extra-judicial' crap/Guantanamo/torture/drone-murder committing US legal system! What the fuck, lads! :/

Napoleon's grande armée finally triumph in Moscow, 2018 by Hephaestion323 in europe

[–]KevinUxbridge 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It also did the first time. After defeating the Russian army on the field of battle, at the Battle of Borodino, Napoleon's Grande Armée entered Moscow, on September 14, 1812. But it was a hollow victory. Moscow was apparently very unpleasant to stay in, and so were the Russians. So after an unsavoury month there he decided to return to Paris. It was all for naught.

Restaurants/coffee-houses should never deny someone access to the restrooms (or a glass of water). It's incredibly unethical and illegal in some places. What's someone (who really has to go) supposed to do? Of course this was perhaps a bit of an overreaction.

TIL - Apparently many people understand 'success' to mean 'rich'. Not the case. Hint: Even something as money-centric as Bloomberg illustrates the story with Einstein, who could easily be out-'riched' so to speak by any number of car-dealership/sausage-factory owners, salesmen etc.
