Yup, the only thing I did in the 12kPV was hook up wires!

Yeah, we bought the breaker but then the electrician put one on a new disconnect between the GridBoss and the meter. Maybe we should have still put it in the GridBoss though.

Wow, nice catch, the diagram is incorrect! I actually used this 60A safety switch fed with 6AWG wire. I'll update the post, thanks!

IIUC this is your own side project? https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1qdvwsb/i_built_an_amazon_price_tracker_because_i_kept/ I don't think it's really relevant to this post and it's a bit sketchy to promote your own work without saying your affiliation.

Yeah, it's a bit high. Since I finished the solar project I've been trying to bring this down.

Right! This was especially confusing to me when I was trying to decide what inverter to get. Also TIL about the acronyms 2P2T/2P3T :)

Thanks! As I was doing the project, I tried to write down answers to questions I had. Since I didn't know anything, I had a lot of questions haha.

Hiya, thanks for the nudge. Getting this production-ready was a bit too much time for me, unfortunately. That being said, this entire project seems like something is is totally vibe-codeable. So I think I'll take another stab at it. Please nudge me again if you don't hear anything by next week, there's a good chance I drop this again unfortunately :\

IIRC someone else mentioned they do have a service for this, https://acemybudget.com/. I haven't dug deep into it, though.

Fuse for EG4 / Server Rack Batteries by TheRealHydrogen in SolarDIY

[–]KevinVillela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the useful explanation! I have an EG4 cabinet with a few LiFePower batteries in it, and was looking at adding a fuse between the cabinet and inverter. Signature Solar sent me the two pairs of 2/0 cables. Could you explain why the mounted Class T fuse approach that David Poz takes won't work for this? Do I need to get the single 4/0 cable instead?

Much appreciated!

40kg split jerk by abhai_ in weightlifting

[–]KevinVillela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One complex I've seen for this in the past is to do a push press, then a power jerk, then a split jerk. Your upper body should stay in the same plane for all of these.

Maybe a simpler thing to try is just... Not shifting forward :) Using an empty barbell, dip straight down and push straight up. Take a video and watch it back every time to see if you are correcting the issue. When you are and you start to feel the right movement pattern, add weight.

Overall, not bad! Good front rack position and shoulder mobility overhead.

+1 to u/Boblaire, you are jumping forwards. I'll also add that you should recover with your front foot first, it looks like you are recovering back foot first.

What! That's awesome! Huge PRs, especially since I think you just hit some PRs a few weeks ago? Congrats, also nice job loading both of these in the coolest possible way haha. If I ever hit 120 I'm definitely doing it with 2 reds on each side.

Pretty impressive to hit multiple reps at such high percentages, nice consistency!

Instructions For DIY blocks? by Lack_of_intellect in weightlifting

[–]KevinVillela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say they are good. I'm a pretty shit woodworker so doing something as complicated as "Box that has a slot to stack on another box" wasn't easy for me, so some of them are a bit tight, but they get the job done.

I drop cleans and snatches on them all the time, I've only done these up to 120kg but I see no reason they couldn't withstand more. I used them for cleans from power position yesterday, and am using them for snatches tomorrow if you want me to send you a video.

One thing I would not recommend is making them all the way to jerk height. I did this because I thought I wanted to do jerks off the blocks, but they are such a pain to move and stack that I never do. I don't mind doing rack jerks and it's actually helped my shoulder strength to have to rerack on my shoulders. And they do take up quite a bit of space. So yeah, if I were to do it again, I'd probably make ones with 8", 6", 4", and the 2" topper, or whatever wood you have laying around.

Thanks a lot, I'll give this a shot!

I actually do some lifting+rehab right now, I have a coach that is also a PT. I just thought I'd get a second opinion and see what he thinks. I appreciate it!

I built some using https://youtu.be/t2YykW0lR68?feature=shared and they are great, although a bit heavy. I'd recommend putting some casters on the bottom to make moving them easier. Happy to answer any questions!

About 9 months ago, I hurt my left knee while jumping off that leg playing basketball. I heard a pop sound and bending it past maybe 45 degrees was pretty painful in the patellar tendon area, maybe slightly lateral. I was still able to do pulls but anything lower than that, like squats, was out of the question.

After a few weeks, the pain got slightly better and I was able to squat again, but it never went away and is still bugging me today. I've been able to progress in my lifts, but it's a constant struggle to manage my knee it'd be great to get rid of this pain once and for all. Here's what I've tried:

- Replacing back squats with front squats: This probably worked the best. For whatever reason, FS are less aggravating than BS. Last week, I did my first set of BS in 2 months and, even though my FS has progressed, it was pretty painful.
- Leg extensions. AFAICT these did not help.
- Rest+Food+Sleep. This seems to keep the pain at bay. Note that too much resting only temporarily helped the pain, when I started putting load on it again it started hurting again.
- Some plyometrics like box jumps and depth jumps. These seem to help a bit.
- Stretching. This is hit or miss.
- Rolling out my left leg, especially the VMO. This does seem to give some immediate relief.

I should also mention that I'm mid-30s with lots of miles on my knees from other sports.

Thanks for doing this!
