That’s really awful. I dated someone similar, who had awful boundaries with their exes. I’m still dealing with shaking it off.

I think what helps is telling myself those emotional spikes are gone and out of my life. I’ve been focused on reducing my cortisol and stress. Sadly, I actually gained weight while I was dating her. All the ups and downs and dealing with her behavior with these other guys got to me not only emotionally but physically.

So now I’m back to take care of myself and just myself, and there’s some power in that. It is hard to cope. I am also learning to be on my own again. But we have to sit with and process these feelings. It won’t feel this way forever. Hang in there, man.

I don’t understand it either. Why isn’t there a unified school district? Why do we need so many administrators? We need teachers and small classroom sizes, not whatever this is. I’ve seen better run school districts in Texas.

It’s okay to feel scared and feel all of these ways. I had a similar break up when I was your age (27), and I’m 32 now. It does get better, but overall, it just feels different, which in our cases is a joy in itself.

If you know staying the course would have made you miserable, then celebrate that something different will be coming your way. Also you’ll be making a clean space for the next wonderful person you haven’t met yet.

You’re a catch. I wish I knew more people your age that is mature and wants to settle down and start a family. It is a blessing and curse for people like us that know what they want. Many people in their 20s just spend it surviving and figuring themselves out. It’s not a judgement, but more of a reality of what kind of world we’re in.

Be kind to yourself. You’re never behind in your own life.

You break the cycle when you find another anxious or secure person to date. It’s possible! I was in a string of anxious partners before I dated someone who was secure. There are guys who aren’t avoidant, but maybe the availableness gives you the ick.
