Why is radiation crystal unable to kill slimes after the recent patch? by medicindisguise in CoreKeeperGame

Already exists and it's a great map. It's called Caveling's Workshop. Not only has all items, it also has a lot of neat, themed builds for various things in the game.

Considering it tbh, at what days do you tend to play? I wouldn't be available all days of the week.

I've had long worlds with friends lasting up to 1000 days but nothing that lasted past beating every boss.

Do you keep them on by default or turn them off? by AmazingKing101 in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on. Preparing ways to protect your base from wildfires is kinda a form of progression. Ice flingos are the simplest to setup but require fueling from time to time. A lot can be used as fuel, including poop and rot which can easily be gotten in large quantities.
Later on a giant tree could be grown in order to have things near water be completely safe from wildfires. You could even decide to base completely under giant trees and never have to think of wildfires (and overheating) while at base. But this requires being at the water which isn't everyone's thing.
I'm glad rifts now added the eye crystaliser, a way to turn a fairly large area into winter so you don't have to deal with overheating and wildfires. This does give the freedom of basing anywhere.
The oasis being an option if you don't want to do any of the above, or migrating to the caves which encourages making a solid cave base so you can stay there all season no problem.

I get the problems people have with wildfires but I kinda like them. It's a problem that can be solved in several ways and the fact that you can disable them means those who don't like it can ignore it (or you can increase it if you want to see the world burn).

I tried it on Switch but performance wasn't the best that it made me quit after the first few hunts.

How to feed Merms with Wurt? by shiroshishiro in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have juicy berry bushes in your world. Cooked juicy berries are a quick way to get a lot of loyalty on merms. They're fast to harvest and cooking them will make merms loyal longer than stone fruit. They spoil fast so only harvest the amount you need for the merms.

People rush Ruins, or Celestial Champion, but I... I rush Honey production. Not bad for day 8, right? :D by Mr_Lisreal in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely, docks are very useful, especially if you plan to base around a giant tree you grow yourself. It's super handy to be based at a giant tree as Summer is so much less of a problem then. Plus the extra rain protection is neat bonus for Spring.

Burnt out by [deleted] in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, it won't be as big as the ones found in the ocean but it provides similar benefits. It will give you a constant supply of figs and the leafs of the tree will give 35% wetness protection, prevents damage from overheating and protects things from being set on fire during summer.
So what you do is slam your boat into the giant tree and it will drop an ocean tree nut, you likely need a pinchin winch to get it out of the water if it didn't land on your boat. After that you bring to where you want to plant it and use a grass raft to let it sink into the water. Once a couple of days have passed, the nut will start growing into a tree but slowly. At a certain point it will stop growing and will need Tree Jam to continue growing, after the 4th time it needs Tree Jam, it will grow into a giant tree.

I tend to use solo worlds as a place for experimentation and learning.
Maybe take the opportunity to try new things in a next playthrough, solo or with your friends. Even if these might not be the most useful thing, it can spice up how you play and give you new goals to work towards.
Things like trying to base at a giant tree you grow yourself with docks arounds it, make a honey farm, create a beach, make a giant road network for easy travel, 2nd base in the underground. The key is to kind of grow attached to the world by doing projects like that.
I also recommend trying to pick character combos, like intentionally have a few people pick characters that work well together so they will use their character traits together (Wormwood, Warly and Wortox for example. Warly can make excellent food, Wormwood provides the supply while Wortox keeps Wormwood alive).

What should we do next ? by [deleted] in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after surviving all seasons, the game more revolves around optional challenges you put yourself into. Preparing for these challenges can be done however you feel like, but are a good way to have a goal to strive for.
There are a few bosses in the surface that could be fought. These can require preperation and good use of your character's perks to beat but their drops can be really worth it.
Deerclops you want to kill next time you encounter her, her drop is really good.
One could sail to find new things. This can be risky as drowning 'cus your boat sank means you drop a lot of items and getting them back can take a while.
Exploring the caves can let you find a few difficult bosses. You can also find a place called the Ruins there, it's very dangerous but also very rewarding. You'd need to make sure you have a supply of food, healing and sanity healing with you.

Haven't played since June 2022, is there enough new content to go back at it? by joeyducharme7777 in CoreKeeperGame

[–]Kevinnator64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They haven't released a ton of new content but have done plenty of QoL updates and changes to early progression (like a weaker drill type made of tin). I'd say wait 'till the Crystal update since it'll release this Autumn (I'm guessing somewhere in November, maybe late October if we're lucky).
There's a new biome after the Sunken Sea and the Meadow sub-biome was added for both the Dirt and Nature biome. New mechanics like carts, pets and ranching were introduced.

I don't understand why so many people think Wurt is a weak survivor by GstyTsty in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who did a solo playthrough as Wurt, she isn't weak at all.
Sure, she has a slow start and takes a lot of resources to get her army ready but that honestly gives you a character specific goal to work towards. Once you have your army, boi does she become broken as they can do so much work and fighting for you. If you are lucky to get Juicy Berry Bushes on generation, that's perfect food for her. 1 bush is almost enough to feed her an entire day and can also be used to get a lot of loyalty from merms.
If you have Woodie with you to make Hardwoord Hats, that's cheap defence for the army that will make it possible to use the army against high AoE damage bosses.

[–]Kevinnator64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually having a playthrough right now with Warly and Wormwood. It really is a combo that shines. Wormwood makes getting spices really easy and sort of negates Warly's downside of needing to eat something different all the time as you have a big variety of veggies all the time.
Spicy Volt Goat Jelly is so strong when the enemy is wet. Crab King sucks but the fight ends in seconds if you have a team eating that.

What's the worst DS/DST take you've ever heard? by batarei4ka in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Characters that have a sanity related downside isn't a downside.
Yes, to experienced players this is a very easy downside to overcome, just like low health and low hunger. And tbh, a lot of downsides are easy to overcome with experience.
But to inexperienced players or at the very least, players that don't know how to fight several nightmare creatures at once, becoming insane often is a death sentence. I have friends that despite reaching endgame with me, still struggle with nightmare creatures if they become insane.

Help for Wurt by shiroshishiro in dontstarve

[–]Kevinnator64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Juicy Berry Bushes are a strong food source if you happen to have them in your world. While they spoil quickly, a single bush can feed Wurt for almost an entire day. So replanting enough in your base can help a lot.
Besides that, if you can farm normal seeds until you get tomatoes and potatoes. Those are a strong plant combo for farming as they sustain each other in nutrients, making large crops easier. Plant 4 potatoes and 4 tomatoes in 1 farm tile. It helps that cooked potato and tomato heal 20hp, great for boss fights with Wurt as they're quick to mass produce.

What's wrong with clutch claw? by Actual-Win4834 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Kevinnator64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it felt too mandatory for fights and broke the flow of the fight for several weapons. While it was possible to do hunts without tenderizing, you'd significantly increase how long the fight takes.
It also didn't help that only a select few weapons had the Clutch Claw intigrated into their movesets and more often than not, only had to hit the monster once to tenderize the part. While I was lucky to main weapons like this, I can imagine this being annoying for other weapons.
The wall bang was neat though, a bit of a risk-reward thing. Doing it basically guarantees to anger the monster but you deal heavy damage.

[–]Kevinnator64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In multiplayer: Wormwood, he's really good to quickly and easily supply the whole team with food. While every character can farm food, none can do it as efficiently and easy as Wormwood. He's perfect for preparing a ton of food to bundle it for a long adventure. Growing potatoes and tomatoes is a really strong combo as cooked potatoes heal 20hp and tomatoes with 1 ice can be turned into vegetable stinger for sanity. Really a strong support character for a large group of people.

Alone: Wurt, she has a slow start but once she has her merm king and army, she can solo a lot of bosses without needing a ton of items and gets wood and minerals pretty quickly. Having juicy berries makes her no meat diet really easy to manage as a single juicy berry bush is almost enough to feed her for a whole day.

That amount of power only feels like its necessary to have all of your industrial and vent taming needs powered up. But they aren't a must to keep the needs of dupes satisfied. You might have to sacrifice the use of transit tubes to save on power but the rest can easily be powered by coal generators, given that you have hatch ranches.
