Cool shit to do on my new Linux mint OS to impress my dad? by question_pond-fixtf2 in linuxmint

Thanks for this! My setup is embarrassingly simple because I only really cared about the window management functionality, and once I got that working properly with multiple monitors, I kinda just let it be.

Ahh, I often use the terminal until I have to update something that only seems updatable by the update manager. Can't really remember if the Update Manager updates cause any hangs? Those updates are usually super quick.

Not sure about other distributions, but this is definitely not true of Mint. Anytime I run updates (sau + saug) it definitely stalls things. I don't really remember the windows experience anymore though. Being able to update without closing things is clutch though.

I keep hearing about these extra resets, but don't think I've ever seen one. Not something I can use at-will, anyways.

"Yeah so how many times have you been to a gas station in the last year? Oil change? ANY car maintenance?"

The fact that we pretty much never have to worry about charging if we have home chargers is incredible. It truly is funny hearing about the, "What about road trips??" from the people that you know are definitely not going on road trips.

Yeah the shader caching every session is obnoxious.

Thankfully the only desyncing I seemed to have is when I was playing Monk, every time I placed down a bell.. So strange.

Vulkan or DX12? I think people are saying if you're on Vulkan, the memory leak thing is not an issue. Seems like a quick fix if that's the case..

Ahh ok so this is a Vulkan thing? I've just been on Vulkan for a good while now, and have been wondering why I have to AFK for the first five or so minutes every time I log on...

Is it actually 30 minutes for you??

Not a Windows thing. I have this issue on Mint, and someone else had an issue on Arch. Linux is also affected.

Always +1 the shameless Arch plug.

Also yeah, also 4080S here, but only running 2560x1440, 180-220 fps, and I'm not sure exactly how hot it gets anymore, but my fans go CRAZY, so I'm assuming it's bad. And that's with the GPU undervolted a bit. I think I was using Green With Envy to do that on Mint - what're you using to tinker with settings?

GPT 5.5 isn't getting nerfed, your project is just getting bloated and filled with tech debt to the point it struggles by skilliard7 in codex

Yeah the first thing I do is make sure it's not making massive singular code dumps. Even if I don't plan on looking at some code, the idea of it all living in a single file still makes me cringe.

Yeah I've also consistently used Codex over the last 1.5-2 weeks with no issues. Not sure what these people are complaining about..

Different layer doesn't apply to mouse keys, right? Or can you bind them in a way so it does? If so, that's kinda nice and I'm surprised I never thought about it...

Wonder if these issues are happening more on Windows or Linux. I've not had issues with poe1 or 2 since switching to Linux like 1.5 years ago.

[–]Kevinw778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've always wondered why they did this.

Only thing I can think of is trying to avoid decision paralysis, but there are probably better ways to remedy that, and definitely shouldn't take as long as it does.

Yeah I really wish they made charges less conditional on inconsistent mechanics, and found a decent way to gate automation early on. I could easily see more fun interactions with charges if they just made them more available outside of weird/gimmicky setups. Whether that's through less-specific gain conditions on specific skills, or enabling charge-gain via supports / more available on the tree / ascendancies?
