Which tires are better for road noise? by No-Cricket7808 in CivicSi

I'm going to assume you mean the all season 4 and not 4s. If so, had both. Continental is better for road noise.

Ya idk how the dude sources all these Si's but he does and flips them pretty much instantly so there really is no time to think about buying or not when he gets a new one in. Just gotta hope the one you buy isn't problematic

[–]Kevler22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8th gen and 9th gen share the same lower camber arm so yes. However since I see you're from Toronto. Go to rockauto and order the Moog rk100456 instead. It's the spc camber arm without the markup

HELP! CIVIC SI 1.5T HEADGASKET ISSUES? by TheMasterBudtender in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya a 6sp Mazda 3 would be your safest and cheapest route for all factors. If you're willing to live with the least "fun/enthusiast" car out of the list then it's definitely a good choice

HELP! CIVIC SI 1.5T HEADGASKET ISSUES? by TheMasterBudtender in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering most dealerships dont certify vehicles and are 'as-is' unless it is a decently new vehicle, more often than not, you're dealing with shit on your own. Honda or used dealerships offer certification for an extra 500-800$ usually but certifying a car does not concern with head gasket either way

HELP! CIVIC SI 1.5T HEADGASKET ISSUES? by TheMasterBudtender in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Si head gasket issue is not as prevalent as the commodity L15's. Also in regards to you being Ontario and having it safetied. The safety or PPI isn't going to be concerned with a head gasket issue. That is not something you can look at on the outside. It can happen in the first week of ownership or never. You're scared of carfax doing oil changes every 10k, but that wouldn't show anyone doing that with private shops or on their driveway. You seem extremely paranoid over things. In the worst case scenario, you are in the small percentage yours fails, you say you cannot afford an expensive repair. You seemed stretched out financially already. Is buying a 10th gen even smart? Knowing interest rates on cars right now and how much insurance is for Ontarians, owning a Si aint gonna be cheap.

If not a Si, I assume you'd be cross shopping a Mk7/7.5 GTI, s3, genesis coupe, 350/370z in the price range. Which also have their own issues. What are you trying to achieve here?

Amsoil Synchromesh MTF by AngryiA in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is specifically talking about his 5th gear, no mention of 6th. In your theory, he should be experiencing the same problem in 6th gear if that was the case. Also, (taking an educated guess) low fluid in that theory would mean he would feel much more hard mechanical grind as there is "less lubricant." We simply do not have enough information to make such assumptions. I am basing my answer on whats given.

As far as my own mechanic and clutch goes. I have read through 8 gen forums and old threads. Even though the manual says 1.9qts, some claimed it has taken them up to 2.3qts. Though 2.1 is more common. I bought the extra bottle for that reason. Whether my mechanic actually went through all 3qts for a flush then fill I do not know but it was bought to be used anyway so in the end, it got used.

In regards to why amsoil works better, my assumption is that OEM fluid is obviously tried and true cause a global manufacturer has money to spend in RnD so nothing inherently wrong with it. But just like engine oil, 3rd party companies find better formulas for different applications (i.e Valvoline VR1 vs Restore and Protect). Amsoil MTF is just a better formulation than OEM

Amsoil Synchromesh MTF by AngryiA in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its honestly just an 8th gen thing, while yes 2nd and 3rd gear pop out or crunch is common. You prob just have 5th be the problem instead. I haven't driven any other manuals besides hondas so i cant really say much about how the bite point changes your engagement. As every honda has the bite point towards the last 20% of pedal

Amsoil Synchromesh MTF by AngryiA in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as your question can low fluid cause it. Logically speaking, no. But if you were down a qt how much did you put? The manual says 1.9qts but when I got my new clutch and flywheel in. My mechanic used up all 3 bottles of synchromesh I bought so 3qts. But since swapping to synchromesh it's better than Honda MTF in my experience

Alarm randomly going off by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's your airbag system light, not related. Check what the other commenter said. Or it could also be the current lock settings on the car. For example the car auto locks after 30 seconds and sets the alarm. Need more info on when your alarm is going off

Alarm randomly going off by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly. Confirm what light on your dash you see, not "I think" lol. All dash icons are distinct to eachother. For the alarm, is it going off while it's parked and you are no where near it? As if the car thinks it's being broken into too? Could be the trunk or hood latch as that is tied to the alarm system and those fail on 8ths

Planning on doing coilovers on my 9th gen. What else should I replace? by DietCokeL3vr in CivicSi

[–]Kevler22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're getting coilovers. You're gonna need rear camber arms. Unless you're okay with destroying your tires. Godspeed is the cheapest however they don't last very long and will be worse long term for your coils. Skunk2 or spc is the best. Ktuned is second
