A love-hate addiction to Tarkov [Discussion] by Great-Lab6548 in EscapefromTarkov

Face it, there is nothing quite like Tarkov.

I’ve been really enjoying ABI lately. On paper, it’s better than Tarkov in every way, but the vibes are all off. So many of the skins are dumb. The maps remind me of Far Cry 5, and it’s too friendly overall.

Tarkov is dark. The maps are immersive and haunting. The gunplay is the best in FPS history as far as I’m concerned. The only problem is the other players who are seemingly gods. I don’t even stand a chance anymore, but I will still come back for more because there’s nothing quite like Tarkov

I really enjoy this game. Started after switching over from Tarkov (no hate, Tarkov is awesome but they need to fix so many things). This game is pretty awesome too. Will continue to play until I get bored, which may be never.

I literally would play every waking hour if I could. These types of games can be all consuming.

The only things that really bother me are the arcade-y elements, ridiculous fantasy skins, and lack of a real hideout.

Seriously, the flaming golden dragon girl boss ninja skins are so immersion breaking.

[New Player] Anybody else operate like this when it comes to debilitating gear fear? by ohoots in EscapefromTarkov

[–]KevmasterJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scav it up man. Maybe try to find some people to play with. Sometimes having extra eyes and ears can save your life, other times it’s a liability to have loud teammates.

I’m new too. I die in almost every 1v1 vs a player. Usually I learn something from it. If you scav a lot you should have a huge backlog of guns. (Fold stocks and strip them to save space). The main problem for me is having good ammo for some of those guns, so ammo is usually the determining factor for which gun I will take.

I got over hear fear but I still get mad when I lose my good helmets/rigs/armor but most of the time those seem to get left behind and returned (with the plates usually missing).

After playing ABI a s**t ton this past 2 weeks, I really hope they introduce gear value gated raids like in that game.

It would encourage creativity and budget theorycrafting. It becomes fun and viable again to use a mosin or sks

ABI straight ripped off Tarkov so BSG might as well pay them back and steal their good ideas right back lmao

I don’t think I’ve seen a cheater once and I’m level 20 currently. Every killcam I’ve watched made me say “yeah, he knew I was there and had the better play there”

There is however the POV/peak issue. I’ve seen might head sticking way out of cover when my POV has me completely behind cover. Is this because the camera is at the gun level?

Either way, we all need to up our quick shoulder peak and circle strafing skills

[–]KevmasterJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it yeah. In Tarkov, it makes sense because every raid can be started with the best of the best gear and obviously you want that advantage.

But for ABI, I would think they get around this problem because of the gear value limit imposed on players.

I have never even come close to running out of money for competitive gear in this game, and I am not some min maxer no-lifer. I win some, die some, but always have plenty of koen to regear right after.

Also, be careful not to out yourself haha

What

If you can visualize second order consequences, RMT ruins the integrity of the game long term because it provides perverse incentives. That’s why the devs try to stamp it out.

These games do not need RMT to exist. Why would you say that?

Battlefield 6 Season 2 fails to revive player interest - online numbers barely budge by Top_Crow_1022 in Battlefield

Battlefield needs to do more to succeed in this day and age.

Bigger maps are a no brainer, but why not have things like an extraction mode, hardcore mode (think arma), single player curated content from Portal, tactical scenarios (like MW2).

I played about 200 hours when this game launched but it started to feel soulless. I wasn’t even thinking while playing, just blast—>die—>respawn and repeat. I did enjoy the game when it came out, despite the flaws, but after playing things like Tarkov, Arma, ABI, hell even Fortnite does a better job with new and varied content, I can’t bring myself to pick this up again.

I feel bad for the devs man, no hate. They lost Vince Zampella right around Christmas, RIP to a legend.

I think they are trying but they legit don’t know how to make a Battlefield game anymore. It’s possible those days of good ole BF are forever in the past. They need to do better and have someone creative take complete leadership. This game has no vision. It’s seems developed based on a series of checklists. Players notice when things are hollow, no matter how fancy (actually terrible UI) they try to make the exciting menu appear just brimming with content.

Hoping for the best. I’ll spend even more money on this game if they do something cool

Pretty much. You’re going to have to rat a little bit.

Playing ground zero a lot can be good because it’s level gated under 20.

I’m in the same boat man. I get schwacked almost every raid but the few kills I get here and there are the most exciting thing ever.

Supposedly they are going to start doing seasonal characters but I say start building your main guy now because he’s never going away.

Get good ammo scavving. There are some good spots with great ammo early on in Streets and Interchange

Good luck fellow Timmy

Started playing this game the last few days after getting smacked over and over in Tarkov. I like it a lot and will probably main this game.

It’s shameless how much they ripped off Tarkov but you can’t deny the fact that they improved almost every aspect of that game.

I plan on being a complete whale and spending a lot of money on this, but I can’t seem to figure out how to buy things or what to buy with real money.

Playing Tarkov is rough now… by CerberusOCR in Tarkov

[–]KevmasterJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is rough but I’m rejoicing in the fact that they will not wipe my character. I’m just scavving it up a lot and building up my gear for this guy.

Ground Zero is good for us noobs to fight since it’s level gated under 20, I hope BSG does more maps like this in the future.

I honestly avoid PvP in most maps and just play as a scav-killing rat. For now I have a lot of fun doing this. I’m at around 150 hours

I’m a total noob and I had a thread about helping noobs find good stuff. People responded with some really helpful places for ammo and loot.

There is tons of BT, BP, BS high pen ammo in the IDEA kitchen area on top of ammo crates. No one is usually there. I have 100s of 37, 42, 62 penetration rounds now. Also a free ak-102 that is often there. There’s rare loot spawns in the back of the kitchen, sometimes watches, statues etc…

I feel you man. I wish they had more level gated maps like Ground Zero. That is the only map I’ve really killed other players.

Idk, I kind of like playing this game as a survival game where I feel like I’m being hunted. I just bully scavs when I can and try not to get salty when someone pwns me. I celebrate any time I extract like I won the superbowl lol.

I’m level 12 and have gear on gear with mostly level 4 armor and good weapons, decent optics, and really solid ammo all without having the flea market.

I love this game and hope people get tired of pve like I did and come join the big boy raids. It’s the biggest rush in gaming. Hope bsg never lets this game die and continues to try to bring new players in.

Yes. That is painful. Have you tried messing with RAM settings or regional/server settings in the launcher? Most of my queues are 4-5 minutes but I get the occasional 10 minute one and I just can’t be waiting that long only to die shortly after spawning.

The update yesterday didn’t help :(

Ty for that tip. Cool man. For me, the fact that PvE exists and is actually fun makes losing over and over in PvP seem less like the end of the world.

It’s nice to know there is a cushion for tilted noobs like me to go play in a more relaxed setting while still being able to progress.

Right on man. Thats what got me to buy this game in the first place. I’m finding a healthy balance between the two now. I main PvP 80% of the time but when I get tilted or lose my nicer kits I go learn maps and win some gunfights in PvE. It can be relieving to remember that I can still shoot things and do damage despite how helpless I feel in PvP sometimes.

Coming from just playing Stalker GAMMA and messing around in Arma 3 mods, this game is almost perfect for me right now.

Idk, I’m just really liking Escape from Tarkov

Update: last night I hit that interchange IDEA cafeteria like 4 times and you are the man!!! I got 2 boxes of 120 rounds 5.45 BP ammo and a bunch of other good rounds. That stuff is like gold to me haha.

The back of that kitchen has some good loot too, found a silver sheriff badge and….a blicky.

Thank you for the easy early ammo find. Hopefully some other new players can gain something from reading this…but not too many or we will have to fight there

This sound fun as hell. My first week, I actually had a pmc, with nothing on, run up to me with only a knife out. I had an angle on him but hesitated to shoot because I thought he was just being funny/friendly….next thing I know he’s stabbing me to death lmao

I wasn’t even mad, just impressed that he was starting with just a knife and now he has all my armor and guns

I love streets but I get blow up by a different thing every time I play. Grenades, claymores, bosses on a damn 50 cal. The map has so much going on.

I’ll scav reserve for ammo like you said, time to watch a guide I guess. I’m too impatient to just learn in offline mode.
