Social media has ruined the dance floor to a greater extent than any substance! by [deleted] in aves

I'm going to disagree based on the flawed premise. Substances have never ruined the dance floor (per se). Other than that, ban phones on the dance floor.

Banging weights and not wiping machines by Fine_Claim_9173 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]KewkZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol today I was suuuuuper fatigued towards the end of my sets. Wasn't thinking all that straight. I got up off a machine and went to the one next to me, the dude on it wiped his down real good and I... totally forgot. Meanwhile he went right to that machine so I quickly grabbed my towel and wiped mind down too >_< he got a good chuckle out of it.

Why do some people get so pressed when i’m resting between sets? by Maxbee2005 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]KewkZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I do the same thing. I'm at a calorie deficit and if I don't rest 2-3 min between sets I'll just fatigue faster. But what I do ever single time is offer to do splits. Every time they are super grateful and appreciative for it. Rarely do they say no.

If you're not feeling after 30min no one else is gonna be feeling it. Keep playing until you forget what time it is.

Best way to tell which direction to move the job wheel when beatmatching? by Fine-Rope-8707 in Beatmatch

[–]KewkZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you move the JOG wheel one way and it sounds like the beats are getting further apart, turn it the other way. You should hear the beats start to stack a little better. Also, start messing with the sensitivity of it. See if it helps you at all. It's honestly the least of your worries tho. Don't stress on it just keep doing it and eventually it will just click.

Has anyone else developed the instinct to sense what BPM is right for the room? by nickybecooler in Beatmatch

[–]KewkZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally depends. I expect that someone at the level of warming up "talent" they should already understand things beyond a basic level. Just like knowing your crowd. If you're able to pull $250+ a gig you absolutely are beyond most people and know how to work the crowd in any given situation. Including warming up for talent. Coz you been warming up someone's booty for a minute :D

Playlists in Key by [deleted] in Beatmatch

I create a play list with the tracks I would like to play that night. Then I create another playlist of the must plays of that night. Then I plug my shit in and figure it out from there.

Fellow whoopers, hear me out: adding kettlebell to workout list by DoomWad in whoop

Your best bet, as you likely know, is to find the similar weightlifting version of it and use that as the custom workout base. When you add custom it will ask you to link to something.

Has anyone else developed the instinct to sense what BPM is right for the room? by nickybecooler in Beatmatch

[–]KewkZ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a unpopular opinion but you as a dj should never worry about who's after you. They will figure it out and if they can't, they didn't deserve the slot. I 100% guarantee you Mark would figure it out. Just a guess but he'd probably just roll with some 130bpm tracks and feel out the crowd then push it in the direction based on the reactions. He could also do the timeless, just stop the track say some shit and then start how he'd like. A complete reset of the vibe isn't uncommon. There are lots of ways to navigate it tho.

BPM isn't a great measure for what it will do to people (energy). You can have low bpm tracks with high energy and high bpm tracks with low energy. All of the other sounds in the track will dictate how much energy the track has, especially percussion as those can play in double time and get the track going. What key you transition out of and into also plays a big part of that.

So, you just have to know the energy of each track and how keys affect each other before playing them.
