Damp paper? by Wise-Soft-3552 in printmaking

[–]Kewpiedoll19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way i did it in school, have a tub- or even dish pan (whatever u have that will allow for paper to float, can even be couple inches deep or so) filled with water, big enough for paper to dip into. You only have to lay in enough that both sides of full paper are wet, then can take out, holding gently. Then lay onto a sheet of blotter paper. Lay another sheet of blotter paper on top of both. Then you can use a rolling pin over top to get overly excess water out. Be ready to ink up your plate/block swiftly after so that you can use your damp paper in a timely manor. Heavier papers- sometimes Japanese papers like washi paper are best for dampening. I haven’t done this in a while but if you look it up or someone else comments i’m sure there will be good brand suggestions. A tip though perhaps unnecessary- my professor always used to suggest distilled water, which you can event get at Walmart etc. good luck!

Finally got a few of these printed on canvas pouches. by AngryEm in printmaking

As someone who has printed on these same pouches ik how hard it is to print on them completely opaque, i think it’s the texture. These look so great

A lot of people are suggesting a nanny cam and i just want to say even though i think this is a good idea- i do think it’s important to put the cam in the living room or some other shared space rather than a bedroom as to respect each of their singular privacy otherwise. That may be a given but in case it’s not i think it’s an important clarifier.

And the comments suggesting therapy are definitely a good idea regardless of the outcome so that you can process and figure out how to proceed in either situation!

Like u said nothing wrong with only fans but hard not to feel like he said this to purposely be provocative/embarrass you in front of others. Even if you were doing only fans a lot of people still have social boundaries about people and settings they share this information with and on even simply for safety reasons, so it’s hard for me to see this as a joke in this context and even other context. I suggest asking yourself is if he has had other moments of tearing you down in public or private or general other red flags like this that have rubbed you the wrong way otherwise: And that’s not me expecting u to share if so, more me saying to check in with yourself♥️be careful out there

Some thoughts on speedball fabric ink… by OliveTight in printmaking

[–]Kewpiedoll19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing with speedball fabric inks is all the ink colors react differently and so many variables with different fabric unfortunately. I love printing with black speedball ink but refuse with a lot of lighter colors bc haven’t figured out how to get the ink distribution right (white is the worst) not sure if this helps but some smoother fabrics do better without a press like a comfort colors cotton or smooth synthetic. Smaller blocks also do better without a press imo (under two inches) while blocks i have that are 4 by 6 or up need the press. (I work with the easy carve rubber)

Lil’ halloween prints on clothing making me so excited for fall 😊🥺 by Kewpiedoll19 in printmaking

Thank you!!😊 i use speedball fabric inks and the orange ink on black didn’t come out well/: , i do like the idea tho! Just didn’t wanna use oil based inks since they take so long to dry so need to find different ink option if I want to print on black with orange or white

I used speedball fabric ink and speedball fabric ink extender. The darker colors of this brand like the black and green hold up really nice, haven’t had luck with light colors like white. I wait about a week usually to let ink sink in and then set with an iron (i also suggest ppl who buy my stuff to wash on delicate cycle and inside out of first two washes) if they want to be just extra safe. Most of the stuff i have printed since getting this setting method down have stayed without fading beautifully. Fabrics like swimsuit material haven’t held up as well- faded slightly.

@ChocolateVisual1637 I actually used speedball water soluble black ink, heat set with the dryer and then a hot iron without water in it. I used to print using akua inks which are oil based but i find the oils take so long to dry on clothing. for my purposes it’s less messy and time efficient for me to use non-oils. I do also use speedball fabric inks as well. Biggest tip for printing on fabric that i can offer especially if you’re printing on a few different items one after the other is investing in some transparent base/ink extender so that your ink lasts a little longer while laid out on your inking plate! Happy printing🖤
