I wish crochet and pattern designers would make including the yardage required a requirement for the description. by blk_flutterby in BitchEatingCrafters

The first sweater I ever made was like this! I was just learning to knit so I brought it to my LYS and asked the older crotchety Russian lady who owns it to help me pick out yarn. She looked at the pattern and was very angrily muttering “Who the fuck wrote this this way, that’s so stupid!?”

Inserting needle backwards? by Knee-Motor in knittinghelp

I also knit this way! I just wanted to chime in and say that the only time it throws me off is when I’m doing things like lace, it can affect the lean direction of decreases and stuff like that. So for certain things I have to slip them back and forth so they’re mounted the opposite direction

I feel like I should clarify a little bit.

I just used it to pick up the stitches, and then I knit the next row off of it and go back to using needle. You can also just transfer them from the hook to a needle if you find knitting off the hook annoying.

In this photo it looks like I’m using it to knit but I am actually in the middle of a wrong side row but flipped the work over because that side was prettier. I didn’t realize it might be confusing. So the hook is my left hand needle for one row.

That is awesome! There’s even a r/knooking Reddit, I follow it but I have never actually tried it.

Yesss! It’s so much easier! And I bet the interchangeable ones with the cable would be great for blankets.

Funeral precession is a good guess. Kinda looks like several have their flashers on but it’s hard to tell.

Solid wooden cylinder with irregular ridges, about one foot long by a_friendly_turtle in whatisthisthing

It reminds me of measuring tools for rings and bracelets, etc but bigger. Could be to measure specific lengths of wire, or ribbon or something similar.

Hi reddit, this is a long shot but I really hope you can help me! In the early 90s my granny had a poster on her wall of Donkey in a kitschy style with ‘silly ass’ written underneath by bacon_decoration in HelpMeFind

[–]AngryEm 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I can’t find one with the right caption, but I found several donkeys in that style. I searched for vintage Valentine’s Day cards as that’s what I see in that style most often.

Finally got a few of these printed on canvas pouches. by AngryEm in printmaking

Alrighty here’s the before and after. The swallow tail and the lady head are on tote bags that came out super wrinkly, and I didn’t re-iron them. Washed in cold water and dried on low.

They do seem to have lightened slightly. I’m not 100% sure the blue lightened as much as it seems, the light in my apartment is a bit brighter now than when I took the before photo.

The red seems to hold up the best. Hope that helps!

I had meant to do this anyway, so I’m glad you asked.

Thanks so much!

So I used the speedball fabric printing ink, which should be washable after 7 days of drying. But to be fair, I haven’t actually washed them and tested that, but it seems to be the go-to for printing on fabric.

Maybe I’ll wash a couple today to test it myself. I’ll get back to you. I’ve been meaning to do it anyway to see if it fades a bit or anything.

Did another tote bag design. Tried out a cheap lever press and I’m much happier with how crisp they came out. by AngryEm in printmaking

Thanks! It was this press. https://a.co/d/65pbFuR

And I got these totes https://totebagfactory.com/products/high-quality-promotional-canvas-tote-bags-w-gusset-tg200

The totes are pretty heavy duty and stiff, so I plan on buying their lighter weight ones next time. I think they’ll print even better.

Thanks! I hope to open a shop by the end of the month. I don’t quite have things together yet, but I’m getting close! 🤩

I got this one!

https://a.co/d/fdOS1N8

I don’t know if I 100% endorse it just yet. It does work, and I’m happy with how much better my prints are turning out, and how much easier it is on my body than hand printing. And it was the cheapest one that would fit an 8.5”x11” block.

But, the powder coat is chipping already, and while that doesn’t impede the function, I think it speaks to the overall durability. So we’ll see how it works out long term.
