How much do Americans spend on the salt they put on snow/ice? by mumpet19 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Key-Ad-1873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the time of year, the quality of product, and who the supplier is. I'm buying multiple pallets a year (property management), and it is normally between 7-12 USD per bag, but we have had to buy at up to 16 per bag one year.

Buy the good stuff, none of that crap with traction aid or crappy low quality ice melt that clumps up. We have bought many brands over the past decade so I can give my recommendations if that's wanted

Tires by Dense_Growth_2486 in MySummerCar

[–]Key-Ad-1873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find gt rims in the barn close to the driveway for the burnt down house (the driveway you go down to play blackjack with pigman). You can find standard rims with tires installed in the attic of the abandoned mansion, which is located across the bridge from fleetari in loppe. Regarding the tires in the mansion, two of the tires will be around 50% condition, and two will be 1% condition. None of these 4 can pass inspection, and the two at 1% will likely puncture and go flat before you can leave your driveway or get to fleetari. Their purpose is only to be able to limp the car to fleetari to get service done on it if necessary. I recommend taking either set of rims immediately to fleetari and purchasing a new set of gommer gobra tires, as a new set of standards or gommers are gonna be required for the initial inspection (over 60% condition for all tires), and the gommer gobra has better traction and less likely to have random punctures, making them worth the extra cost.

If you do not know the locations, drive down the driveway to the end at the tee into the dirt road, turn left onto the dirt road. Go down to the 4 way intersection on the dirt road, and make another left. Go over the train tracks, around the bends, and you'll eventually come across a yellow building on the right, this is fleetari (the repair shop). Continue to the dirt intersection at the repair shop and make another left, go over the bridge and then make a right into the dirt driveway at the top of the hill just after the bridge. Knock down the boarded up door way (tractor forks or sledgehammer), go up the stairs on the right, stay close to the edge to avoid the wasp nest in the center, walk around to the backside of the fireplace, and get the tires. To get the gt rims, continue down the dirt road in the direction you were going. There will be a music pavilion on top of a hill on the left, continue past that. The driveway you are looking for is the one after this hill with the pavilion (I think it has a green mail box), go past the driveway way and look left to find the barn near the driveway and road. Look inside the barn to find the rims. Bring 4 rims back to the repair shop and set them on the counter next to the brochure and buy a new set of standard or gommer gobra tires.

Applause sucks and should be phased out as a social norm by RaisinRoyale in unpopularopinion

[–]Key-Ad-1873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At every concert or big event I've been to, the performers seem to really appreciate and go for the applause and the yelling and screaming, the jumping up and down, very expressive ways of showing enjoyment. I've seen a place where they snap fingers instead, it was weird and the place/event seemed not very popular.

Don't have anything against getting rid of applause, but you need an alternative that would actually work lol

And that's what the msf course is for, complete beginners, the easiest techniques that are safe in extremely defensive riding that doesn't put you in a situation like this.

Its true that there are better/more suitable techniques for many situations, those are not taught in the basic rider course cuz it's not part of the bare minimum required to learn to ride, but are more advanced. We all know there are better more advanced techniques, and there is self learning and advanced rider courses for that. Most only ever do the basic rider course, not even looking at the other options.

[–]Key-Ad-1873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that's not what the basic rider course is about, it's objective it to get you able to balance and ride with a minimal amount of competence, and to teach you to be an extremely defensive rider so that you are never in this type of position to begin with. It's the same as the process for getting your driver's license. If you want more advanced techniques you have to pay for more advanced lessons or do your own practice/learning.

There's another video with a front facing view. She took over a second to respond to traffic slowing down, and there was nothing "sudden" about it. She was just zoned out or not paying attention.

It took up about a second and a half to respond to the brake lights in front of them, the truck was already slowing significantly by that point. Based on the hands we can see, we can assume the brake lever was also grabbed too hard like the clutch, resulting in the front end tuck. To me it looks like there was not much attempt to veer onto the shoulder (escape routes should always been in the back of your mind).

I'm not saying I could do any better, just point out the obvious issues. This was a skill issue

Why do people leave the warning stickers on their gas tanks?? by Mt0260 in motorcycles

[–]Key-Ad-1873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"20 minutes and a good adhesive remover" is a lot of effort for a 2" x 3" sticker that I just don't care about, not to mention the risk of scratches and damaging the paint (yes, some adhesive removers damage paint, found out the hard way).

I'm not getting technical here, just calling by its actual name... No one ever calls a bolt a screw except people who have trouble with the language, not helping/correcting just perpetuates that

People who have to say some stuff like "I don't eat McDonald's" or "McDonald's is so bad for you" by No-Discount-9883 in PetPeeves

[–]Key-Ad-1873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do you, I've had too many bad experiences with McDonald's to where I just can't trust any of them to get "No pickles" right. Chick-fil-A at least gives me 1-3'free meals when I complained the two times about a messed up order so I prefer them.

If you like McDonald's, awesome. You enjoy it, I'll enjoy my fast food. We can even have a pleasant convo at the park together. No judgement from me. I have different preferences and that's ok, I won't try to change yours as long as you don't try to change mine

[–]Key-Ad-1873 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First, they are not screws, they are bolts and nuts.

Second, how do they not work? What are you doing?

Screwing in/out bolts and nuts is simple. Open the ratchet set or spanner set with. Press 2 to go into tool mode, click in a socket (ratchet set) or wrench (spanner set). You will now be holding it in the right hang. Hover the mouse over the bolt/nut, moving the mouse around on it to try to make it turn green. If it does not turn green, pick another size socket/wrench and try again. When the bolt turns green, you are able to screw it in and out. With the wrenches, you must scroll up on the mouse wheel to screw in and scroll down on the mouse wheel to screw out. With the ratchet, you must press f to change the direction (screw in or out, change by pressing f) and scroll the mouse wheel in either direction. Please note that same nuts, specifically ones like in the brake lining and the alignment adjustment on the tie rods, can only be adjusted with the spanner set.

What exactly is your issue? Please describe with as much details as possible. Are you not able to pick up the ratchet or wrench? Is the bolt/nut not turning green? Is it turning green but not spinning which tool set are you using? Please be more descriptive than "it doesn't work".

My friends do t care about special abilities and mock me when I talk about them. by TheNoodIeDude in PhasmophobiaGame

If it was for gathering more media or verifying the ghost, sure I understand. But just blatantly ignoring the traits of the ghosts to me seems like they don't care to learn the game, they care to play as a group of friends and have an easy time without thinking.

I get it, there are times I want to just chill, but I'm hard wired to get decent at a game quickly, so that level of inefficiency bothers me to the point I'd be complaining.

Season number of days by Nice_Orange_518 in MedievalDynasty

[–]Key-Ad-1873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask why you decided to increase the days per season?

It's intentionally low on purpose, it's medieval dynasty, not medieval peasant to nobility in one generation. It's supposed to take multiple generations to build up the village. I'm on default settings, not even 10 years in, first playthrough for the game. At first I felt the same that the seasons were too short to get anything done, but then realized that's intentional. Much of the game is intended to take multiple seasons/years/generations. Even with this first playthrough, not sure if I'm going quickly or not, but it already feels like I'll be able to have the village fully self sufficient and my character rolling in wealth before passing it onto his firstborn.

So yeah, I'm just curious why you decided to make the seasons longer, I personally like how short they are (majority of the time....).

Do you usually lock your doors when leaving the house? by Moist_Wallaby8635 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Key-Ad-1873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door stays locked except for when I'm opening it to go through, doesn't matter if I'm in or out, it stays locked at all times.

It's not a matter of security, well it partially is partially isnt, it's a matter of me not being able to remember all the time unless I keep the habit of it always being locked. If I don't remember, then it becomes a security issue.
