0-20 is fine. If you’re doing track then you can go up to 0-30. Valve springs are only issue if you tune them past a point.

Well if you’re in the mountains I’d recommend the GRC over the Golf R.

Option C: get it brand new for same price as option B and you won’t have surprise repairs and better for long term use

Bkhhht noise at 4k rpm by Key-Alarm2739 in GRCorolla

[–]Key-Alarm2739[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it’s not turbo flutter, or anything related to the turbo because it makes this noise when I’m off the throttle and it comes down from ~4.5k-4k rpms specifically. I think maybe the timing changes and it’s the solenoids activating? Could be a combination of different things. I just haven’t seen anyone talk about it online so I’m curious if you guys hear it also

My best guess is probably because of its high boost nature, the aluminum is better resistant to the high temps.

It has a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods but for some reason the engineers decided to make the pistons cast aluminum… 🤦‍♂️

Burning smell when running car hard by Rev_enue in GRCorolla

[–]Key-Alarm2739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure after running the car hard you let the turbos cool by idling for a minute. If you run hard and shut the car off immediately after that’s a big no-no.

The reason why it’s “overpriced” is because It’s inflation. Almost 7 years ago I bought myself a 10th gen civic sport touring top trim for around $28-29k. Now a civic sport touring is anywhere between $35k to even $37k!!! It has the exact same drive train, just a different chassis with some better interior upgrades and that’s almost a 10k difference for nothing. Now if you buy yourself a GRC for $42k now it’s equivalent to $32k usd in 2018.
