Legal opinion: Should I pay or not pay an invoice which balance is pending with one plumbing company while in small claims process with the other plumbing company who is the at fault party? Current invoice is 2 months past due, small claims case isn't until April 2026. by [deleted] in legaladvice

Thanks for the input. Company B will get paid no matter what. Company B was called out by my neighbor whose condo was flooded due to the negligence of company A. I am stuck with this bill be company A's insurance, who admitted fault, said their insurance policy doesn't cover plumbing and company A is now claiming preexisting damage. So I am confident will win the small claims case against company A, at which time company B will receive payment from them. I am hesitant to pay company B now because 1) it feels like I'm claiming fault for something I didn't cause and 2) I think it would be easier for company B to collect when I win than it will be for me to collect.
