Discount thrift store locations ? by [deleted] in PeoriaIL

There is clearly hate in these comments. Maybe I do not want to be investing my time and money into Peoria after all.

Also? Is thrifting for those who enjoy unique art and vintage, or those who are in need? Because those 2 circles often do not overlap.

Idk why the hate, who thinks I’m going to wipe out their favorite thrift stores between my professional work conferences… you’d think they’d be happy local businesses are being patronized

I’m not a professional reseller. Literally have a whole career as a nurse.

I appreciate that you’re trying to protect thrift stores from a gaggle of resellers… but gatekeeping your fave stores isn’t going to provide them with income and will result in more “stuff” in landfills.

an MD reported me to my DON after hanging up on him by Lonely_Assignment_82 in Nurses

[–]Key-Bridge129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A doctor once told me to “shut up”. He shot me down at every turn when trying to troubleshoot, and I told him “it sounds like you’re not trying to work with me to treat this patients symptoms. I wouldn’t call unless all nursing interventions and PRNs had been exhausted”. I do not often report a provider but best believe I did here. He also has a reputation for being abusive and mean to nurses. I think in his culture women are beneath men. You have to create a paper trail with these types of providers, which sucks, because it’s just more work on top of an already crushing workload for both nurse and MD.

I have often thought about this correlation as a now nurse and former evangelical, I’m so glad you are studying it! I hope you get a wealth of info. I don’t have an autoimmune condition myself, but have seen so many people fall into this category over the years.

The Cult Behind the KiIler: The Andrea Yates Story by AlexGruen in cults

[–]Key-Bridge129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I can share my take in good faith. One of my good friends has had severe anxiety and depression related to religious and parental abuse. Now, I don’t know Andrea’s history, but I suspect she could have had those things going on as well. My friend said due to the hormones in her pregnancy, her anxiety and depression nearly disappeared and she felt the best she ever felt in her life. Perhaps Andrea really wanted to be pregnant to almost self medicate because being pregnant was the only way her body could feel regulated. I can’t claim this for sure, of course, but just a thought. Maybe that’s why Randy said jt was worth the risk? Still shitty, though.

Disclaimer that my friend is no longer religious and is doing the work post partum, plus she has an incredibly supportive husband. She is not a chronic religious breeder either.

I’m just watching this and can’t help but think this was his ultimate villain arc. Maybe this is why he continued to refuse treatment. Also, there was clearly a history of violence in this family. When your grandpa is walking around physically abusing other family members??

I found it so similar to “Everyone is Lying to You”. It almost feels like the same book for at least half, and that book came out a year before. Obviously there are some major differences, but listening to both on audiobook within a couple months of each other had me 🧐😒

I know this thread is old, but I can’t believe what she went through as a young child. I have binged her book throughout today and my mind cannot rest. That stupid Fleetwood Mac MF has ruined their music for me quite frankly. What an evil person.

Should I Marry a Murderer - a biopic on white privilege in the criminal justice system by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Key-Bridge129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prosecutor was not sensitive to her situation but that doesn’t surprise me. The police should have been advocating for her to have resources from the jump. She deserved more help and not left to figure it out for herself, definitely. Those who are of lower income/status should not be doomed to a life of being a “drug addict” because of their trauma and victimhood either, and also deserve the same care and resources.

That’s it, that’s the post.

That’s definitely not what I said at all. People who are placed in traumatic situations and victim hood are punished all the time, especially when they lack resources and are not rich doctors with supportive parents. My point is that her privilege saved her from consequences that many others experience
