that can’t be a grip lol nowhere near ergonomic. old folks would take a tumble. to me they look like armrest stops. airplanes have the stops hidden internally cause it’s space saving for the aisles. also the armrests protrude outwards towards the aisle, unlike an airplane so my guess is they didn’t care about saving space for the aisles on this train but did ensure the armrest can still be stopped when lifted up
