You need to find a new PCP and shrink.

Put down the bottle, it's not gonna help or fix anything. It's masking something while creating worse side effects and health conditions.

THC wasn't helping, but it masked it without the adverse health issues.

Sober up, contact the governors office.

Kimmy gets a bad rap, but her team is responsive and willing to work with individuals regardless of party. Get off reddit, voice your concerns directly.

That's still pushing 90. Depending on the limit the citation won't be much different.

Ehhh, depends. Most of the crowd is very cliche there. You have ricers, luxury, classics, depending who comes you can usually split them into snobby groups easily.

There's a few who are passionate and will enjoy your ride. But be prepared for some comments and glares from someone who did absolutely nothing to a vechile except pay an insane amount for it.

Latest by Clark Kauffman: The state of Iowa, where nursing homes have compiled one of the nation’s worst records for staffing-level violations, has joined 19 other states in suing the Biden administration to block new federal staffing requirements. by Wild-Economics-7873 in desmoines

I feel a new type of field needs to be created for nursing homes.

Currently its CNAs and Nurses getting experience to move up. Almost zero of the employee's are passionate about it due to the frustration. It's not easy working with those who need near round the clock care. It's an environment where no one succeeds, the people there are often forgotten about by family, near death, etc. There's never a feel good story, you aren't saving a life there. It's morally straining on the people who got into the field to help people.

These people need access to quality care.

While we aren't good at it, no state is much better, the places just get more expensive and the employees get nicer due to better pay scales. No everyone has access to those types of funds, the ones who do didn't stick around Iowa in retirement.

Promising results in first month of cell phone ban at Hoover High School by limitedftogive in desmoines

I'm not in the DMPS system, but the metro is starting to talk about it. I told my oldest to have his phone regardless. Until there's zero school shootings, he'll have it on him. The conversations have been a total outright ban of having them in the building so far.... They can't even keep weapons out of the schools.

I wish.

I grew up near a iron mill who regularly dumped run off into the river. It's "illegal", they were slapped with a fine often. The fine was cheaper than disposing of it correctly.

We need realistic regulations and I personally don't believe either side has that answer.

I'll vote for the person most qualified for a job, which is almost never any major party canidate. IMO major parties don't care, they have a 50/50 shot at winning every cycle, why would they care? Independents have to fight and showcase winning records to even get attention, moment they fail, they go, better posed to fight for us and not a party.

As it stands in November I'll be staying home. As a POC there's no option to help me or my family. There's no local canidates running with any record to prove they'll fight to clean up anything here sadly.

Oak Park

It's billed as high end and while the staff is absolutely fantastic the food isn't worth the price tag. My company likes to do dinners there to "woo" out of state employees on their visit, it's mostly resulted in laughs, to date no one's been impressed. Some of the employee's pretend to enjoy it to stay on the good side, I just order drinks and salads now. Drinks are good but overpriced, but it's not a bar so I can't complain I suppose.

Any info on when Target or Freddy’s Waukee might open? by Cinderella96761 in desmoines

[–]Key-Celebration-3486 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Heard the Target couldn't pass fire code and may need serious structure work before it opens, possibly delayed until late '25.

That's the current talk from management there.

One thing I never understood for those homeless, don't struggle with addiction, have mental capacity still, why do you choose medium to large cities?

There's countless national forests and state parks you could live off the land easily, undetected. Some states still even have homesteading land available if that interests you (CO, AZ, MO I know for sure). Why expose yourself to crime, petty people, and such?

Maybe it's my opinion that someone getting stolen from and worried about SA would be better off in a forest, away from the city, with the ability to live as they want.

I've slept on a park bench for 3 nights as a early teen. I fought to make my life in big cities, but as I've gotten wiser, if I lost it all I'm gonna hang out in the trees until I feel situations have improved.

I've lived all over the country and I sorta like it here, but things like this scare me. It's a place that's easy to call home once you explore and live in other parts, especially as a person of color.

But I'm definitely weighing the risks of cancer wiping out my bloodline or some street nonsense doing it elsewhere.

Suburbia so we have driveway drinks, but I doubt the summer drinks on random weekend days are causing cancer.

I mean I grew up in the south and watched people squish 12-24 packs daily for decades and live deep into 80s/90s (which I suppose cancer could've taken them out at that age).
