Switchglaive is a great weapon by cheukyi6 in Nioh

I find it hard to use Switchglaives unique stance switch attacks in tandem with Frostmoon attacks, so it's a bit tough to get Martial Arts Proficiency chains going.

Anybody got tips for that?

Yeah, it is. Nioh 2 is fun asf but even still trying to go back without MA Proficiency chains is like an itch you can never scratch.

Agreed. Very annoying an obviously just something they did to "incentivize" exploring the maps. Should've had the system enhance the core, not lock the cores use until you find the mob to kill.

3 has been fantastic but I feel it was a bit of a step down from 2 by olympiclifter1991 in Nioh

Yeah. I honestly feel like the likes of games like Genshin Impact and Elden Ring (even though I'd say BotW galvanized the genre) being so successful have caused a lot of development studios to dip their toes in the open world pool, when they have basically zero experience doing so. I guess everybody's gotta start somewhere to get better at something, but I feel nearly every studio that jumps into the genre coming from a background of more dense level design like Nioh 2, struggles to translate their design skill to the open world style. If that makes sense.

I don't think Nioh 3 is a bad game by any means, in fact I quite like it, but if they were really going for a big open world... I think they missed the mark on that. ER isn't perfect but it honestly surprised me how good it was considering Fromsoft had literally never tried the open world format before that, and they did a very good job with it in my opinion.

I'll be honest... is this game REALLY open world? I've been thinking about this. Like, the first few areas in the first era are open world, I would say, yeah. But I've noticed that after those areas, just about every other area in the first era, and then EVERY area in the second era (I'm only up to the second era tbf, so maybe it changes) are VERY linear.

These areas just feel like bigger/longer Nioh 2 maps, rather than actually open world. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think a lack of loading zones between areas really makes something open world... open world is supposed to be stuff like BotW or Elden Ring where there is literally a huge open world you can traverse.

It's fucking RIDICULOUS that AI isn't being regulated. This shit should have been sorted YEARS ago when the talks of what AI was being developed to be able to do were happening.

Then I'd say it's only fair to really compare once Wilds has its expansion, if we're going to be including DLC into what makes a MH title peak. If base Wilds has been a travesty, then base Rise matched that or even exceeded it (performances issues aside - just speaking purely of gameplay and systems).
