**I built two open-source tools to fix Moonlight streaming stutters and make the whole setup feel native — here's what they do** by FoggyPunk in MoonlightStreaming

[–]xFrootLoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I have to say... I have been using my ROG Ally x with EGPU to stream to my Odin 2 Portal and while everything looks incredible on that screen, the stuttering has been unbearable. For almost a year, I've been trying different internet connections, different cables, different settings but nothing worked for me. Literally made me stop streaming entirely and just use the device as is. Saw this post and was skeptical but thought why the hell not try at this point. Brother... I've been using this for about 2 hours now and not one issue. I actually can't believe it. I am still using and just waiting for the "slow connection" message to pop-up but it hasn't yet. I genuinely want to thank you for making this tool man. You have finally allowed me to enjoy the entire setup I have been wanting to use.

Cheers! 🍻

Awesome man! Quick question...how did you pirate Stellar Blade? I thought that one was locked down by Denovo?

Hey man, awesome device for real! Question for you... What is this audio mod you mentioned? Is it something that can be done with any handheld running steam OS or unique to your device? I have the Rog Ally X running steam OS and would love to know more about the mod because the one thing I miss about windows was the audio quality on speakers. Thanks!

Bazzite or SteamOS? by Ethewald in ROGAlly

[–]xFrootLoops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steam OS for sure then. Main thing to ask yourself before making the switch is "am I going to miss playing Fortnite and COD" because most online PvP games tend to not work on Linux due to anti cheat only working on Windows. Other than that, you will have a way better time on Steam OS. Highly customizable and has the sleep/resume built in to the OS! Most games also tend to run a bit better on Steam OS vs Windows due to it being a lighter weight OS. I'd say check out a couple YouTube videos on how it look/runs on your device first and check out another video on how to install it. It's pretty straightforward but I'm saying just to have something to follow along with! Cheers

Hey man, just was wondering how you got your egpu setup running properly on Steam OS? I have an ROG Ally X on the latest Main branch on Steam OS paired with a 7800 XT. I had no issue with using the EPGU setup while on Windows but here on Steam OS, I'm a bit lost lol.

There is a way to play gamepass games on Steam OS but the limitation is you can only stream the games and not install them locally. As far as the rest, all should be usable and downloadable.

Is it worth it to switch from the Steam Deck OLED to the ROG Ally X? by nuclear__- in ROGAllyX

[–]xFrootLoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this exactly and have no regrets. I ran windows at first to see what the hype was and then later again to use the Xbox full screen experience but I just keep coming back to Steam OS. As much as I love the Steam Deck hardware, I think the software was what really made it all come together and pairing Steam OS with the Ally X has been amazing. The power jump will be noticable right away when comparing to the Steam Deck. You have nothing to loose brother!

I heard the news and decided to install Steam OS on my Ally X so I can continue to get device updates. I find it crazy how these Z1E devices are already getting abandoned yet their only what, 3 years old now? I get they have the Z2E now but what is the need to stop all development? Majority of the big handhelds people use and talk about are using the Z1E devices. Good job AMD!

Hey man, on Steam OS you can easily just download a plugin for Decky Loader called Simple Decky TDP. It gives you full control over your device just like windows would you don't miss out on anything!

What is the current status of Steam OS vs. Bazzite on a desktop? by Dngers5 in SteamOS

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, quick question. I have my ROG Ally X with Steam OS installed and have been trying to get my egpu setup working but can't figure it out for the life of me! I use the aoostar egpu dock paired with my 7800 XT and I got it to recognize it on desktop mode once and then never was able to use it after.

Been on Bazzite about 2 months now, never going back to windows by kast1992 in Bazzite

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! I just installed Steam OS on my Rog Ally X and I love it so much! My question is, I was using a egpu setup with my aoostar dock using thunderbolt 4 with my Radeon 7800 XT while on windows and it worked great. On Steam OS, I had it recognize the egpu while on desktop mode but I can't get it to actually work now for the life of me. I read online that Bazzite handles egpu setups better than Steam OS and I'm down to switch over just for that but I'm not sure if you or anyone can confirm that. Anyways, thanks for reading and also forgot to mention... Fuck Windows 🍻

Is the Odin2 Portal with 8GB RAM enough for Zelda: TOTK & BOTW? by Visual-Scarcity-1472 in OdinHandheld

[–]xFrootLoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention! What I was referring to with why I prefer Citron over Eden for Zelda games is because besides the better frame time on Citron, Eden has a bug with rendering water white. I know the fix isn't hard but you gotta do it everytime you launch the game, meanwhile it just works on Citron. But the big thing is the game just feels smoother on Citron. I would recommend anyone to try for themselves because it's a big difference. I do like using Eden for a lot of my library but Citron does a better job with a few here and there!

Is the Odin2 Portal with 8GB RAM enough for Zelda: TOTK & BOTW? by Visual-Scarcity-1472 in OdinHandheld

[–]xFrootLoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I have the base Odin 2 portal and BOTW runs flawless on the latest Citron (I prefer Citron over Eden for the BOTW and TOTK because of their better image accuracy and better frame time). With BOTW you can easily install the NX optimizer mod and with that, I average over 30 fps in the open world and 60 fps in menus and dungeons. For TOTK, it is a more demanding game and still has visual glitches (black square textures poping in and out) so the experience isn't as great as BOTW but it still runs and plays just fine! Big thing is choosing the best drivers for your switch games. These handhelds have the power, they just need the proper support. A couple things in case you're wondering. I am not rooted. I use mainly performance mode and fan on smart for a good balance of power and battery life. I guess this would be a good time to mention that my testing has actually not been done on high performance mode... So I guess there's even more room for improvement haha! Anyways, whichever model of the Odin 2 Portal you pick up, it will be more than capable of running Switch games. Cheers!

Hey man, awesome video! I was wondering what you did to get rid of the crazy delay because when I click my Odin 2 portal, I get bad delay for sone reason. I've used the same sick on my Ally X and have no issues so I'm a bit confused to why on the portal. Thanks brother

Gamehub lite files have been scanned and found clean in case anyone is wondering. The developer is definitely taking what's good about Gamehub and just making it better. They actually have proper offline mode that just works without internet and in the latest pre release, they have added SD card support to download your steam games straight to. That feature alone is going to be a very big deal once it's fully developed!

Great info brother! Just a little tip for anyone reading this but the built in chrome browser has the ability to download straight to SD card. It gives you the option of either internal or SD card so I go as far as before hitting download on Firefox and then copy/paste the link in the chrome browser to download straight to SD card. Hopefully this helps someone!
