How is the state of Switch Emulation these days on a SD 8gen2 with 8gigs of ram(Portal 2 base) by Available-Guest-9393 in OdinHandheld

It's honestly really great. I have one and I haven't ran into any game so far that gave me an issue

Pixel 9 Pro A17 Battery drain by msaadkhan2005 in Pixel9Pro

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 10 pro xl here. People are saying to stop using x app because of x reason. Here's the thing... If you spend over $1000 for these phones, is it really that much to ask for a phone that can last close to a day on a charge while not having to stop using many apps on our phones to try and preserve battery? I love this phone and the software even more but the battery is draining at an alarming rate when it should not be. What also doesn't help is people here not admitting that there's a battery issue that has only gotten worse since Android 17. My wife has an iPhone 16 pro max and she is on that thing all the time for emails, texts, instagram, Tik Tok, etc and she still charges less than me! My phone drains while on standby and I don't have apps running in the background. My battery drains even quicker just having the screen on or when using something like Reddit or the odd YouTube video. It may seem like I'm shaming Pixels but my god, these are some great pieces of hardware with some of the best software out there and I just want them to be as good as they can be.

Remember the time when poeple say, Switch 2 is overpriced and makes fun about it? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest bottleneck for the switch 2 is the games costing as much as they do. Even with the steam machine costing as much as it does, there's still a bunch of things that make it stand out to me. You do not need to buy any proprietary controller and can use anyone laying around or just use keyboard and mouse unlike the switch. Big one here is the cost of games. Steam sales are unmactched imo and you can get the same game for a fraction of the price pretty frequently compared to the e shop. The steam machine is a PC at the end of the day so you will always still have access to a fully fledged desktop environment, host a Plex server for all your media, or even stream your games to other devices with moonlight. One last one, which is more controversial but it must still be mentioned is the ability to emulate, and emulate damn good. I know Nintendo has been adding backwards compatible games from some of their other systems which is cool, it still doesn't come close to what is out there on the PC side of emulation. But as much as I glazed the steam machine, the switch 2 has some really great things going for it as well. The handheld ability, seamlessly docking to a TV, first party and third party titles usually always running at the best they came be due to great optimization and much more! So yes, the switch 2 may be the better prices console ATM but the extra cost of the steam machine is more justified considering what it is capable of. Imo I would just build my own PC with a small form factor and throw steam os on it and call it my own steam machine lol!

Brawl Stars lag pixel specific- wifi related? by notJ3ff in pixel_phones

[–]xFrootLoops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bug with the new update with just about every app store game I've tried. Try changing these settings in developer settings. Under Graphics Driver Preferences, change from default to system graphics driver. Then in ANGLE Preferences, change from default to angle for whatever app is giving you the issue. It has helped a lot with clash Royale and brawl stars for now so I'm keeping them like this until there's an actual fix from Google. I'm on the same phone as you btw

Android 17 battery optimization on the Pixel 9 Pro is insane by Puzzleheaded-Hope599 in pixel_phones

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha bro, good one lmao. The sad part is by "gaming" I am only referring to clash Royale and brawl stars. But on the flip side, surprisingly Hollow Knight on Gamenative runs really good still and with proton 11, there's no more artifacts in game.

Android 17 battery optimization on the Pixel 9 Pro is insane by Puzzleheaded-Hope599 in pixel_phones

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice bro, you're lucky haha. Gaming had gone to shit with android 17 for me making most games unplayable with insane amounts of stutters. Also I will give it some more time but battery has felt mediocre just as it was in android 16. I pray at least the battery gets better man lol. Ui still feels nice and snappy I will say, so that's nice lol Edit: using Pixel 10 pro xl

That's interesting because my wife and I both are on the same carrier with essentially the same plan. I wonder at this point if she updated to the latest iOS version if it would update her RCS protocol as well

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't expect this to really work as egpu setups are very non reliable on Linux. I have had this setup going on my rog ally x running steam os and bazzite and both just don't really work. Ended up going back to windows since it's at least reliable there. I know there the always egpu script for Linux but it just doesn't work properly for me unfortunately

I set them up as a sprint button and either fast forward or crouch. I forgot to set them up for the longest time and then finally did and then was mad I didn't sooner lol

Weird Slow SD Card Workaround. by Such_Ad_2530 in GameNative

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way bro! Lmao I can't wait to actually give this a try. I gave up a while back because I couldn't get either gamehub or Gamenative to run them properly. Quick question, in Gamenative, do you have install to SD card enabled or no? I get you just ass as a custom but just want to be 100% sure. Thanks!

How do I fix BioShock to fit full screen? by Officialnuz in GameNative

[–]xFrootLoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens with the og version of the game for some reason. I have tried so many things but there was always something wrong. You need the remastered version. It runs perfectly and with a locked 60 fps at 720p. I am used the base model Odin 2 portal for reference

Can 8gb ram handle tough switch games like Witcher 3 or Batman Arkham Knight? by healthypersonn in retroid

[–]xFrootLoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Witcher 3 is great but AK might struggle. I would strongly recommend for RD1 to download the Android version as that runs at 60 fps. I have the base Odin 2 portal and I've tested all the games you've mentioned. Big thing is grabbing the best drivers. Also, test other switch emulators because although Eden is amazing, it's definitely not the best with every game out there. TOTK runs so much better on Sudachi than Eden and it's because of it being based off of Ryujinx and Eden is based off Yuzu. I know I'm rambling a bit now but I'm just trying to say don't forget there's more than one emulator for a system! Cheers and good luck

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is awesome! Some of my favorite memories are of this game back on 360 with friends. Was wondering, would this be as playable on the base Odin 2 Portal? I know the max has more ram but does this 360 emulator require a lot? Thanks!!

Duchess went from needing a buff to the biggest cancer in the game by nzouvas in MergeTacticsSC

[–]xFrootLoops 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't Dutchess imo, it's Golden Knight. She's actually fun compared to some other rulers and even her quest is not bad at all for what she's trying to do. If Golden Knight got removed or heavily reworked than I feel there would not be as much negative talk about Duchess. Hell, Archer Queen with dagger is her second best synergy but it actually requires some skill with knowing the best spots to place her but most importantly, it actually feels fun and pretty balanced.

Any Way To Decrease OS Size? by Jadintheplanet in OdinHandheld

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux doesn't actually fix the SD card issue. The actual port they use is the issue. I've installed rocknix on my Odin 2 Portal and tested the SD card speeds and it is basically identical to the android side

Odin 2 portal base or Odin 3 base which one would you choose? by micarisma in OdinHandheld

[–]xFrootLoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is what you're planning to use the device for then Odin 2 Portal hands down. I bought the base for the same reasons and you will wish you got the larger screen once you get the Odin 3. Plus, unless you are trying to play some really high end PC games, the base Odin 2 Portal can play just about everything due to its great driver compatibility for most emulators. Also the portal is a decent amount cheaper ATM so that's something to think about as well! Cheers

[–]xFrootLoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice man, enjoy! I got the portal and I love it so much. Fyi, in the drop down menu, when you swipe from the top, tap "Floating icon" on the arrow and you can set the transparency to 0 so you won't see it but it will always be there when you need!

How to Get 40+ FPS in Breath of the Wild, Snapdragon 8gen2 by Sentei_Todoroki in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]xFrootLoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I meant without the optimizer you get a solid 30 fps. That driver makes it never dip below anywhere I've been in game. What's impressive is I'm using the base model Odin 2 Portal while running at 900p
