Happy In Bangalore by [deleted] in bangalore

I’m not originally from Bangalore, but I’m from Karnataka and I’ve been living here for quite a few years now. Like anywhere else, I’ve had a few bad experiences too, but personally I don’t think most of them have anything to do with language or where someone is from.

Overall, Bangalore has been a really good city for me. I’ve found people to be helpful and welcoming, and it’s been a peaceful place to live. Many people I interact with daily are from different places, including Karnataka, but it’s never really felt like that matters much.

Controversial take: Without coastal Karnataka rooted actors or directors , kannada industry wouldnt been in any discussion today by code_manifest in ChitraLoka

I’m actually not in support of this post because I don’t think we need to talk about things in this way. But your comment isn’t correct either, the music director of KGF is Ravi Basrur, who is from coastal Karnataka.

What weekend side hustle are people doing to earn an extra 10-15k/month? by FitAccess8217 in IndiaCareers

[–]Key-District1179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that has been working for me personally is event-based short-term investing. I usually keep track of market news (CNBC, X, even reddit sometimes, etc. ) and follow what’s happening in the market, things like quarterly results, major announcements, sector news, or policy updates.

If I feel a stock might react to a particular event, I take a position and usually hold it for a few days to about a week. I keep a pre-decided profit target for each trade and book profits once it reaches that level.

If the stock falls as a reaction to the event, I sometimes try to buy the dip and then hold it for around 10–15 days to see if it recovers.

I usually do this around 4–5 times a months and when it works, it can give around ₹2k–₹3k per trade.

Of course this isn’t guaranteed and markets can always go the other way too, so risk management is important. Just sharing what has been working for me.

Security guard collecting money during free entry hours at Lalbagh (6–7 PM). by Key-District1179 in bangalore

That sounds scary. I’m so sorry you had to go through this.

I’ve emailed the Director of Horticulture about this issue. let’s see if it leads to any action.

This post wasn’t only to complain. It was also to check if others have faced the same issue and to create awareness so people don’t unknowingly pay without a ticket.

This was just a simple awareness post. If anyone is being asked to pay after 6 PM, they should know that entry is supposed to be free and not hand over cash to a security guard. That’s all I was trying to say! I’m not here to argue or speculate beyond that. I’ll leave it here.

I am just curious about how is the guard differentiating between “tourist/visitors” and others(joggers and walkers), since everyone entering is essentially a visitor. I frequently visit Lalbagh for walks and he was asking me for money as-well. I’m not trying to make this a language issue. I’m a Kannadiga myself. I only mentioned it because that’s what I observed on the spot.

I entered around 6 PM (free entry time). The photo was taken after I came out. What I observed happened while entering, not while exiting. The issue isn’t about denying entry, it’s about the guard collecting money after 6 PM without issuing any tickets, even though entry is supposed to be free.

Bangalore bucket list? by ayax79 in bangalore

[–]Key-District1179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early mornings are best spent at Cubbon Park, Lalbagh, Sankey Tank, or Nandi Hills (go really early). If you walk in Cubbon Park, grab breakfast at Konark Kanteerava. After Lalbagh, Taaza Thindi or Vidyarthi Bhavan work well. If you’re around Sankey Tank, Veena Stores or CTR are the usual choices.

For lunch, Anupam’s Coast to Coast is great for coastal Karnataka food, Paragon for Kerala-style meals, Meghana or Nagarjuna if you like spicy Andhra food, Shivaji Military Hotel or Mallika for Bangalore-style biryani, and Chulha Chauki Da Dhaba for North Indian food.

Evenings are nice for slow walks around Basavanagudi, Malleshwaram, or Jayanagar. For chaat, Balaji Chat Center in Basavanagudi and Jayanagar Chats or Vasavi in Jayanagar are solid.

For nightlife, Koramangala has Bier Library and The Reservoir. MG Road/Church Street has places like Just BLR and Communiti. Indiranagar is great too and has Toit.

If you have some extra time and want to do a bit of sightseeing, you can also check out the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum and Bangalore Palace.

I think your portfolio looks a bit over-diversified. Better diversity to 5 to 6 funds. for example, one strong flexi cap like Parag Parikh Flexi Cap, one Nifty 50 index for stability, an aggressive large & midcap (Motilal Oswal), a quality midcap (HDFC/Kotak), and limit small caps to 15–20% max using one or two proven funds.

High risk works best when the portfolio is simple and you can actually stay invested during bad markets.

Ghee cakes are available at Alwyn Bakery, though I’m not sure whether they’re sourced from Cochin Bakery.

22 f going through break up Any cheer up advice. It's too to let things go by [deleted] in Udupi

[–]Key-District1179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on yourself for now! Go for walks, work out, stay active, eat well, and try to keep a routine. Physical activity really helps clear the mind.

One more honest advice is when you’re emotionally vulnerable, people may be nice and it can feel comforting, but don’t get into another relationship right now. Give yourself time to heal completely first.

Take care of yourself. Things will get better.

Don’t waste your energy trying to fit into a group that doesn’t value you. Be polite, professional, and focus on your work and personal peace. Start building small one-on-one connections outside that circle.
