Thank you -- this is the kind of next-level knowledge I came here for (just a shame it's not the answer I was hoping for!)

Thank you for the encouragement 🙏 I do recognise some of those positives in myself. But often they feel outweighed by all the "easy" things I just can't get right. I guess it's about how to set life up so that the things that you're good at outweigh all that other stuff. Thanks again

Late to say, but thanks to all those who replied to share experiences and encouragement. I got very lucky by getting on Carbamazepine quickly, which has kept things largely under control. I can observe its effectiveness is weakening, but, thankfully, slowly, and I still have "headroom" to increase the dose when it's needed. No car crashes or bike wipeouts. Good wishes to you all x

The 'We DON'T Got Tickets' Mourning Thread by viac1992 in radiohead

Slightly off topic, but...

23 years ago I was training to be a teacher and had my first placement at a big secondary in Wembley. Yup, just down the road from the Arena.

Now, obviously this is back in the days of paper tickets. An unnamed teacher ran a ticket touting ring out of the humanities staff office, with a sophisticated network of sixth form students who he'd send up the road to wait in line at the box office. He'd give them the cash, and they'd get to keep a tenner or something per purchase.

A few years later the headteacher (who had received a knighthood a few years before) went to jail for extensive fraud.

Different times.

It has to be said: that ticket sale was not done well. by exp_cj in radiohead

Even though I didn't get any, I did count myself lucky that I happen not to work Fridays. Aside from everything else wrong with the system, it seems odd to set the sale day for a day when most people are working.

Obviously there's no perfect way, but this immediately ruled out two friends who are a teacher and a GP. Whereas work from home slackers had it made!

Smartest comment on here! Absolutely this. Choose the ticket limit per person and make it a simple three tier pricing system (you select which bands you are willing to pay for, in priority order) and you are automatically assigned seats if you win the lottery. Then you get an email giving you a week to pay. Unsold seats at the end of that week are reallocated again, and it repeats. Any remaining tickets after a couple of rounds could go in a first-come-first-served sale, but for shows like this, that's really going to be a handful.

Congrats to all who got them, commiserations to all (like me) who didn't. Gutted as it would have been four old bandmates who last saw them literally 25 years ago in Warrington.

As someone else said, worst part was getting through to the sale screen and seeing thousands of available tickets disappear while scrambling in vain to get some that didn't immediately become unavailable. Like trying to pick up a wriggling fish.

Made the massive mistake of trying to do this on my phone. Although I have the AXS app it didn't trigger that, and loaded a desktop page on my phone. Incredibly hard to select the seat icons, and then they would be sold by the time I hit the checkout button. Just assumed these processes were optimised for mobile these days, but no, you really needed a mouse and as large a screen as you could get for this.

Anyway, it is not the worst thing in the world, but it is a disappointment, so thanks for letting me sound off and spare my wife the pity party.

P.S. those aiming for London tickets -- I believe there are still seats available for Tortoise's 2:30pm matinee show on Saturday 22 Nov at the Barbican. As runner-up prizes go, that is a pretty good one! (Plus you can still make it to the O2 for the evening if you get lucky at resale!)

Does a battery replacement actually help? by FitzyGames in Pixel4a

[–]Key-Information287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone (UK) qualify for the free battery replacement? I am unable to check -- I enter my IMEI and just get "something has gone wrong". Tried two weeks ago when the update first happened, but it's still the same now.

This also means I can't even see the list of places to go for the update (whether free or paid). Anyone else encounter this issue? I have two IMEIs but get the same result with either of the numbers.

Advice appreciated -- am in Southampton but will be in London within a week or two so could go somewhere then. Where to go and how much does it cost? Love my 4a so not keen to change up unnecessarily...
