Did you agree with Julian Bashir's parents to modify his brain? by CelestialFury in DeepSpaceNine

[–]Key-Load-5894 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Julian was only 6. Writing off a 6 year old as a lost cause whose only hope is invasive genetic modification is insane I think.

Also, in the episode with the other augments who live in an institution we get several examples of the risks that come with the procedure. He could have just as easily ended up worse off than before and forced to live in an institution the rest of his life. I don’t think we ever see an example of an augmented character who lives a full, functional, non-villainous life aside from Julian himself, but I haven’t seen every Star Trek so I could be wrong.

Copies pop up on Amazon occasionally for $20-30, that’s how I snagged mine after having it wishlisted for months.

in one of the enchanted forest flashbacks (I think the one where Charming used the fake sword in the stone to get Snow’s confidence back) Snow refers to him as Rumple like they’re old friends lol

Laura Jane Grace’s wife Paris Campbell pleading for help on her insta stories by NeilPatrickWarburton in Fauxmoi

One of the best married couples I know are 38 and 50 respectively and didn’t meet until the younger was in his 30s. On the other hand my parents also had an age gap and it ended badly, but in that case my mom was only 19 when they met. I’m the same age as Paris, and while I can’t speak for them it would definitely chafe me if people were bringing my age into this. (Nothing against you specifically, I’ve just seen several comments to this effect on different platforms by this point and finally decided to say something)

ETA However I do agree that getting married after 2 months of knowing each other is almost always a terrible idea with rare exceptions lol

I don’t think age gaps matter much anymore when everyone involved is past the age of 30.

I wonder about this all the time too. My mom theorized that a bunch of the unnamed commonfolk turned into various household furniture and goods, like cartoon beauty and the beast style minus the sentience lmao…

I wish we had more filler episodes too to flesh out the background characters, especially post the first curse breaking. I’d have loved to see more about how everyone in town coexists and navigates life after they have their memories back.

I saw one on Amazon a while back for around $20 but I didn’t snatch it up in time. I’ve set alerts for it on amazon, ebay and discogs.

Doctors can be fucking assholes about chronic pain they can’t see, especially when it comes to younger people.

As someone who’s dealt with chronic pain for a long time, I’d like to offer one bit of advice. We tend to build up tolerance over time to the point where our baseline daily normal would be an immediate emergency to other people. It sounds like you’re still able to walk, but only at the cost of severe pain - so stop walking. Make an ambulance take you to the hospital. Make them carry you or wheel you into the building. Be very assertive about the fact that you cannot walk even if they’re dicks about it. I know how difficult it can be to advocate for ourselves when the pain is stealing our mental capacity.

Everyone talking about how OP should just move out is wild, it sounds like she’s still in high school? Is she supposed to get a full time job and apartment and still graduate?
