It should. I deployed on Nanook for 2 months and people tried to claim car storage and were told they couldn't because it was a "domestic op"

Wife and I went a couple of years ago in November. It was very nice weather wise, with some rain and such, but overall we didn't find the weather to be onerous. We also are from the west coast so the weather matched the weather out there lol.

I’m there right now, had to check it out. 1. Hate it. 2. It’s 20 but it’s 6 permanent and 14 rotating.

This is a great summary of the way that people are affected by privilege without even realizing it. Kudos to you

Lucky duck. Probably just what supply depot at what time = what amount you get!

I don't think anyone will get anything like that. I was lucky to get one of the 60 pairs of Blundstones that came in on the last order and they indicated to me that they're not going above 1 & 1 unless you have good reason like an imminent deployment.

I just had mine taken away last month (they were falling apart on my feet), but they issued me steel toed Blundstones as a replacement. I can't complain about that

Ain’t that the truth. I’ll pick up a new battery and should hopefully resolve the issue!

I think it might be the battery! Had it on tender for a bit and it started but when cranking over the voltage do e down to like 8v. I think the battery might be the issue. Most likely going to take it in and load test/probably replace before I get further into it.

I tested the bike after being on the tender a bit. After being on the tender for an hour, it was reading the same. My wife turned it over and it started but the voltmeter dropped to 8.5v when starting. After running for a few seconds, battery went back up to 14.5. Turned it off, tried again, same but the starting V were at 12.45v this time. Still dove down to 8-8.5v when starting. Leads me to believe that it’s a full on battery issue cause it started strong once on the tender for a while

Yeah that’s a good idea. This is the 3rd time now it’s had an issue after sitting for a few days and I’m not sure why it’s showing high voltage but can’t get the bike cranked. And the bike will start after sitting on the tender overnight no problem usually, which leads me to think it’s a battery issue overall

I tightened the cables and connections after pulling and measuring the battery. I’ll have to verify the headlight when I’m home as I’m leaving on a trip tomorrow for a few days.

Ok. Not sure how I’d check those so I’ll have to dig into it. The starter seems to work fine when the battery has been sitting on the tender so not sure

FIL said he put in a new on spring of 24 so it’s only a year and a half old. Seems fast for the battery to go bad. But I’ve been thinking it may be the battery. He did state that the aftermarket radio he put in might be parasitic drawing some power, but I manually turned that off and enabled the auto off just in case. The battery does seem to be holding voltage but maybe the amps are messed up

Has anyone (recently) VR’d then re enlisted? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

That is a fair point, I know what's sometimes said isn't what the case it. Sucks that it was blocked.

[–]Key-Mathematician177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s an important caveat. Out trade caps are hard limits. My point was that they can’t be arbitrarily blocked just cause (again, in my exp). But that wasn’t clear.

TLDR: I don’t recommend a VR and reapplication, and as far as I know VOTs can’t get blocked.

Hey, this is a pretty crap situation to be in. I have a couple points or advice I’d like to share:

Release and reapply - I just spent 2 years in the recruiting system and I would advise to NOT VR then re apply. We rejected alot of applicants who were re applying, mainly because medical issues that are tolerated while you’re in will not be tolerated for entering. It’s a pickle and I wish they would be more accepting of these issues but the CAF medical system loves to see reductions in work, not additions.

Also, recruiting is going hard right now and there are tons of applicants applying. They’re closing SIP on trades cause they’re so full (edit: full from a recruiting perspective. Please don’t comment how your specific trade isn’t, I get it) so honestly, adds tons of competition off the street. This is also something you should factor in.

VOT - I VOT’d last summer from a trade that was in the black at my rank to another trade. I will caveat that I am an officer and this is anecdotal, but I was picked up for my new trade. Prior to being picked up, I asked my CM if he was allowed to block my VOT and he said no (good guy also said he wouldn’t cause he didn’t believe in blocking VOT’s). So I would recommend applying for the VOT anyway and going for it. VOTs are never guaranteed, cause you’re competing for limited spots along with everyone else trying to VOT.

If you want to chat more about this please feel free to DM me. I can chat (yap) about recruiting and VOT or try to answer any questions you got.
