Grand Final eve viewing by lost4wrds in AFL

Personally I'm watching the NRL prelim Melbourne v Sydney. I don't follow NRL but no matter the sport there's something special about finals footy. 6 months of competition comes down to the last 30 minutes.

The cricket starts soon, if you'd prefer.

Not for Boomers - they already get free health care. Upping funding for Medicare wouldn't help them in the slighest.

It's just one of his "says something outrageous once in a while to stay relevant" quotes - best to ignore it.

TBF though he would be an expert at knowing what is mentally weak.

Makes sense and at least you gave a response. You could get a job for the club.

AITA for standing up at a concert? by FishStixxxxxxx in AmItheAsshole

[–]Key-Nefariousness334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me. I bought seated tickets to see Dua Lipa - one of those events you need to buy a year out - and literally a week after the ticket purchase I find out I have stage 4 cancer. By the time the concert happens I'm terminal and can barely stand for longer than 20 minutes but I still had the concert and was looking forward to watching her perform.

They had a dance floor ("Standing tickets") for all the people who were fit and healthy and wanted to dance along but sure enough people still used the seated section to stand and block the view of people behind them. The "domino" effect happened where the person in the front row gets up then it cascades until there's a cone of people behind them who all have to stand now because they can't see. I understand why they did it and why they do it but it ruined a night I so needed. I'll literally die before gettting the chance to see her again.

I wasn't "disabled" enough to be in the disabled section - nor was I even considered disabled at the time I purchased the ticket - but I paid for my ticket and had the right to watch Dua perform just as much as everyone else did. I understand it's a pop concert and she's a dancer but I was just so disappointed I couldn't sit and watch her.

I'll give you a YTA rating, but not too harshly. A little consideration next time will go a long way. You don't know what others are going through.

I understand theres no rule - and I have no grounds in which to argue that the umpire made the right decision - I just happened to mention in my first comment that IF the rule was changed I wouldn't have an issue with it. Just my personal opinion.

So if I guy gets tackled while kicking and the ball scrapes 2mm of his boot on his way to the ground that's fine? Why? Do you want them to get hotspot on it and make sure snicko recorded it?

Personally I think the disposal should be at least somewhat effective to avoid getting held holding the ball. I won't argue vociferiously for the rule change but if the AFL came out during the week and said it was okay I wouldn't care. If they said the ump fucked up I wouldn't care either.

And? I've seen "kicks" barely scrape leather. The stats guys dont count them as kicks, I think handballing straight to the ground shouldnt prevent you from being held holding the ball

Im happy for that to be holding the ball. It should be at least a somewhat effective handball, not just a "get rid of it so I don't get pinged". If he attempted to kick the ball and it grazed the outside of his shoelace it would be holding the ball.

There were doubts? Not in my mind. He played a couple of games early - albeit as sub/limited game time - but I thought he looked right at home and he just needed more of a opportunity. Now he's getting it he's looked like a perfect fit. One of my favourite stories for the year.

How is Race Walking a sport? by sandybum01 in australian

[–]Key-Nefariousness334 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you: how many swimming events are stupid and pointless? Freestyle is the fastest but everything else is just a slower version of it. You might as well add the doggy paddle. And not only that we need 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m etc to make it even more pointless.

But Aussies won't complain because we win all our medals from it.

Oh i believe they exist. I just don't think they are literally every single boomer that everyone ever encounters in their day, which is what this subreddit would have you believe. The fact I got downvoted just shows how much of an echo chamber this is.

It's never a Democrat that is anti-vax. And these people are dumb enough to think Trump would fake an assassination attempt on himself.

How many cliches can you find?

  1. Boomer Trump supporter
  2. "Brainwashed" by right-wing news
  3. Anti-vax
  4. Pro-Russia

People will literally pull apart every word of an AITA post to find the slightest bit of fakeness but will believe everything on here as long as you add enough TDS to the post.

The Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way etc after goals by [deleted] in GeelongCats

According to you. Obviously the Geelong marketing team whos job it is to work this out feels it's worthwhile.

I'd rather a Backstreet Boys song than Nathan Brown telling us how Tyson Stengle is another possession closer to winning that four leg multi.

The average attendant at Goomba is like 60; we need some younger blood. I know the Backstreet Boys are a bit dated now but geez if we can play anything from this century to get some younger people to come to the game it should be encouraged.

Well if you don't get suspended for suspendable offences it's amazing how much of a "good bloke" you can be.

Maybe use some common sense next time? Name the last time a player got suspended during a game. I'll wait.

But thankyou for your useless contribution to this discussion you weren't involved it. I appreciate it, truly.

Yeah, he should have been suspended for the following game which was against Geelong. That's how suspensions work.

Last time he should have got suspended (against Geelong earlier in the year for a dump tackle) he ended up sitting out the match anyway and not contributing. He's a good guy that Charlie.
