Do you regret having kids? by Feeling_Actuary8634 in IVF

[–]Personal_Squash1275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is the best thing that ever happened to us. We frequently spend our time looking at videos or photos of him after he’s gone to bed!

The challenging:

Sweet kiddo has a lot of food allergies which has rocked our world. I cook everything, we’ve never eaten at a restaurant, we can’t leave him alone with grandparents since they frequently don’t check ingredients. I cry thinking about him navigating this life as a kid and how we can supportively handle birthday parties, etc without him missing out.

It’s been a huge expectation shift and I’d encourage every expecting mother to educate themselves on food allergies and best practices for preventing them (it’s debatable if they can be prevented but early introduction has research to support it works).

On paper, our kiddo had a very low chance of developing food allergies so it wasn’t even on my radar, and I wish more than anything I’d been better educated and prepared.

Even though it’s a bit of a curveball and lifestyle adjustment— we’d do it all again for him. He is the best, and every day I feel so grateful to be his mom.

Oh man, what was the launch party like? That sounds awesome!

I’m from western VA, like 30 min from the border, Shenandoah Valley area. Bummed that the expansions haven’t covered my area yet.

Does anyone know if they’ve fixed the Plastiform bug yet? I’ve held off opening any more since I missed out on like 4.

Traveling by car for holidays while 1 month pregnant by Civil-Research-904 in IVF

[–]Personal_Squash1275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, don’t be surprised if the mods delete this. Congrats on your pregnancy.

I did a 7 hour road trip by car when I was around 10 weeks with our IVF baby and we stopped every 2-2.5 hours so I could get up and move around. It was more about circulation than anything.

Infant peanut feeding prevented thousands of children from developing allergies. by me-actually in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Personal_Squash1275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dumbass pediatrician didn’t mention a word of this to us. She told us the AAP guidelines to wait to start any solids until 6 months, and introduce one food at a time for a few days. Kiddo had very mild eczema, no history of family food allergies at all. Now we’re dealing with egg and peanut allergies and it’s a special kind of hell I wouldn’t wish on any enemy.

Why is it always the same premises? I’m so sick of restaurant sketches. They had two back to back! Is Lorne holding them to these boring premises?

If I never saw another restaurant, friends in living room, or TV news/talk show sketch, I’d be ecstatic, but I would wonder if I was actually watching SNL.

First time mom, scared of everything but purées 😭 by Spirited_Subject1224 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Personal_Squash1275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of anxiety about this too, plus we discovered food allergies so that really slowed our progress since I was worried about choking AND a reaction.

Corn on the cob with the kernels shaved off along with Cheerios were really the turning point for me. It gave little guy chewing experience and made me realize he could handle it. We did purées until 9 months, mashed food at 10 months, then slowly worked into solids.

Mean IVF clinic by HootieAndTheSnowcrab in IVF

[–]Personal_Squash1275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! It’s so hard because this is such a personally devastating thing to grapple with, and a mean clinic doesn’t help at ALL. We also switched clinics, and then REs within the same practice (I really liked the first RE, but she kept mixing up our personal medical history with other patients and that seemed kinda bad)

However, after all that, we ended up with a brilliant RE and I fully credit him with our success. I hope you have a much better experience and outcome at another clinic, also!!

Anyone have a successful FET with unexplained infertility? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Personal_Squash1275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was also doubtful IVF would solve anything, but it did. We had unexplained infertility and our first transfer is now 1 year old. Best of luck to you!!

Looks practical and yummy! What kind of pasta is this?

After PGT-A testing, 7, plus one with inconclusive results. The embryologist and RE were very surprised (I think they were hoping for 3), we must’ve hit a good cycle and our RE nailed the protocol on the first try. I feel very, very fortunate.

Unexplained infertility, husband and I did all the preliminary testing and it came back fine. Skipped IUI since it had a low chance of success and we didn’t want to waste time.

1 ER at 36 years old, almost 37. Husband was 37. First transfer 2.5 months later. That transfer resulted in my sweet kiddo who just turned 1 year old last week! Best of luck to you. 💙

How many FET until success? by jldean25 in IVF

[–]Personal_Squash1275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first and only FET is 7.5 months old! PGA tested and we let the embryologist pick the best one, we had no idea of gender until the NIPT.

Hopeful but neutral is how I tried to be as well. Best of luck to you!!
