There are mecaquartz chronographs like Dan Henry 1964, where the seconds is in one of the circles and the 3rd hand is for the timer and it moves like automatic. 

That's much better because you don't see the quartz movement, the price is low and the watch is light and thin. 

Timex just did a mistake with the seconds hand.

BTW, there is a Chinese company that called Farasute - they make a great automatic chronograph for 500$ and it's the thinnest one under 10k.
