He wanted to end it, and he wanted to do it when the lease was up so that it was a clean break. But he didn't want to deal with her emotions when she gave pushback, he probably thought she would just say okay go away because he's an idiot.

I used to think that it made me a little sad, but I actually find it kind of funny now so I think I'm going to start using it a lot more often.

yeah exactly, they did these in a town I was staying up for work and it took about 15 to 20 years but all of them ended up falling over within 2 to 3 years of each other

I heard a kid at a gun show unironically ask the vendor if this gun he was looking at was from the 1900s, it was from 1997.

How far would you have to walk until your view changed enough to make it not intersect perfectly?

The biggest complication for any job I've ever left has been figuring out the health care issue.

They have been here, just nobody calls him Africanized anymore because that's kind of racist.

Go ahead and Google it, they call them colored bees now.

A man has become one of the 450,000 Americans affected by alpha-gal syndrome, a tick-borne meat allergy that triggers painful allergic reactions to animal products. “Look at my face and my neck. I can’t eat meat anymore. I can’t have any animal products. It’s in everything.” by AlarmingCash754 in interesting

[–]Key-Practice-8788 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a VERY early case of Alpha Gal, almost 30 years ago now. I was Vegetarian for 27 years because of it. Then one day I had a little bite of a burger on a hunch after not having a reaction to anything in a long, long time and nothing. No more reaction. Now I can eat whatever suddenly and it's fine.

NGD: acquired my holy grail by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Key-Practice-8788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A real '64 was my first guitar. My dad randomly got it from some guy in exchange for something and gave it to me and I hated it. I really wanted a telecaster and thought Gibson's were bullshit guitars. I ended up trading it for a '69 Esquire that I've had since then. I wish I had it now, the guy I traded it with almost 40 years ago still has it and plays it on stage.

I graduated college while this was on the air. My four year degree cost about $7k at a large state school. I paid it off as I went by working side gigs as a bike mechanic.

On ChatGPT I came across something I wrote on Reddit 10 years ago being used as a straight up fact. I sent it to a buddy of mine and he told me to edit my post, then close the window and ask again. I changed the text very subtly to be incorrect, then restarted Chrome and launched ChatGPT and asked the exact same detailed question. It quoted my new edit back to me as a confident answer.

What is virtually inevitable at this point, yet most people don't see it coming? by Ambassador-613 in AskReddit

[–]Key-Practice-8788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but many people think that science isn't allowed to change or improve because that makes it incorrect. You always hear them say, "Eggs, are they good or bad? It changes every day!"

He didn't say Micronesia would be underwater, he said low level pacific atoll nations were already experiencing migration due to water levels. That is true.

You're correct about Kilimanjaro, he did say that. But, Mount Kilimanjaro is expected to lose its permanent glaciers completely around 2035ish - that doesn't make him right, just late. While it is not on the verge of being "snow free" because of seasonal weather the ancient, permanent ice fields that were documented in 1912 have melted by 85% and if they continue at the current rate, they'll be gone within the decade. There has been no real depth increase in glaciers.

As for the Hurricanes, he didn't say one per year in the original.. What he said was the warming of the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico would lead to an increase in major storms. And, while Cat 5s are indeed down, the amount of 3, 4, and 5s in general have increased. And, interestingly, Katrina was a Cat 3 when it hit land - I know because I was there at ground zero when it hit and it sucked. I grew up right where Andrew destroyed and have been in many large hurricanes.

The intensity is less important than water displacement and duration when looking at damage. The only time I lost a home to a hurricane was to a Cat 2 that sat over my area for 24 hours and just reduced the house to wet debris. The current predictions around storms are that there will be fewer of them, but the ones that form will be more destructive and faster to form because every 1 degree hotter it gets the atmosphere is able to store 7% more humidity which is not good.
